Over/Under Numbers for Calls from the Booth During the Michigan/Alabama Game

Submitted by Marvin on

With Musburger and Herbstreit calling the game, I though I would throw out some over/under numbers for stupid comments we'll hear. Here are a few. Feel free to add!

1. Number of times Brent Musburger says “Take that SEC!”: 2

2. Number of times Kirk Herbstreit refers to the speed of SEC defensive ends and how you just don’t see that in the Big 1G: 3.5

3. Number of times KH talks about Saban’s ability to prepare for unique offenses and players: 4

4. Times KH refers to how Saban’s system is set up to emphasize a game managing quarterback: 3.5

5. Times Musburger refers to Deerfield Beach and Denard’s childhood: 1.5

6. Times KH says that Michigan is “not there yet”: 3.5

7. Times Denard kneels and prays in the end zone: 4 (Please God!)

8. Jake Ryan sacks: 1.5 (Please God!)

9. Times KH refers to how Brady has “changed the football culture in Ann Arbor: 2.5

10. Musburger references to Bo:4

You need one for "Honey Badger" references and how many times Musberger says "snaps it off" when referring to a QB throwing the football.

On everything except for #1. You have to consider that there are 100+ plays in a gae. That's a lot of filler.

The Musburger game: drink every time Brent says 1. Hold on folks.. 2. It's a foot race! 3. Kirk, my man.. and lastly 4. when he calls a TD before they make it to the endzone.

The most confusing aspect of Brent Muskberger is his use of  "nothing doing" after a failed play.  He is the only person I've ever heard utter that phrase.

Musberger calls Denard "Shoelace," as if he is the only one that doesn't realize Denard has not really been caled that in a while, a lot, but not nearly as many times as Gerry Denardo says "elite level depth" while describing what Michigan is lacking.

Number of times Musberger elevates his pitch and calls the play in his most-excited voice, even though holding has clearly taken place and multiple flags have been thrown in the offensive backfield: 2.5

I've given everyone a personal posbang on this thread...not because I think I'm BlogGod, f-that...because I literally can hear Musburger and Herbstreit saying all of these things you all have mentioned.

Good work by all, very good laugh.

Kind of sad as well, seemed far to easy to make this list.

I guarantee that at some point in the game, Musberger will say something like, "Now remember folks, this is not the same Crimson Tide team that celebrated on Bourbon Street last January.  Eleven starters are gone from Nick Saban's 2011 national champions..."

We're also sure to hear this one,  toward the end of the game:

Musberger: "Remember folks, coaches always tell us [dramatic pause] that the biggest improvement a team can make [another dramatic pause] is between Week 1 and Week 2"  (to which Herbstreit will reply, "Oh, no doubt.  [Team that is behind] will look like a very different team next week").

I like the SEC speed reference. I'll definitely take the OVER on that one. In fact, I'd bet money that Herby says something to this affect "Michigan has their one Denard, but the problem is Alabama has four Denard's on the other side of the ball". BOOK IT!

Over/under on references to Bo and Bryant - 5

Brent will at least one time mention "the A-train" and Tom Brady from the 2000 Orange Bowl.
