Outback Bowl UNI'S!!!!
Nothing terrible in a vacuum, but nothing helps branding quite like constantly changing the way you look.
Please. Stop. It. Now.

Love the helmet. Jersey looks okay. I'd rather have a Bennigan's or an Applebee's patch on the left shoulder though. Better prices on their menus.
Fire David Brandon.
The most iconic look in all of sports has been changed for no reason other than to maximize profits.
(Serious question: Where do the Legends patches fit?)
oh man totally sikk you guyz

Change can be good. But please lord don't fuck with the helmets.
I actually like them. I think they look good. It's only for the bowl game. I'll be adding it to my growing alternate jersey collection.
When the ADept sells special jerseys and gear, you'll see my picture next to the targeted customer crowd. A sheep.....but a Blue one.....
It's only for the under the lights game. It's only for the MSU game. It's only for the Alabama game. It's only for the bowl game. Bullshit.

Like the "rematch" with Appy State. It's all about the publicity, right?
/s
Then simply don't buy them. Complaining about them is doing nothing. They're obviously doing well in sales and the players like them enough for them to keep doing them.
Kids get excited about these things. I overheard a couple recruits at the Spring Game that Michigan's gloves they wore last year were "cold". I assume that's a good thing.

Dave Brandon thanks you for confirming his theories on marketing.
The one he borrowed from P.T. Barnum, yes?
Failure to see the irony of saying, in the same breath, "it's only for the bowl game," and "I'll add this to my ever-growing connection," is astonishing. The reason we have these jerseys is not because it matters what the players think about them, but because we have fans who are willing to piss hell of ducats up the wall on every gimmick Brandon throws at them and pretend that "it's only this once."

This is just hideous. The matte finish usually only looks good with black or gray helmets
is whether it is a block "M" logo on the shoulder or a jersey number... the logical rationale is a block "M"
You're HIV-Aladeen.
So is there anything we won't do for money now Dave? Thanks for messing with the best uniforms in sports once again
Oh you know, just a typical Michigan fan that goes to Central
At this point, I have less of a problem with the alternative uniforms (because I know they're coming) than I have with the fact that they're butt ugly. These just don't do it for me. To mess with the helmet...I don't know man. Is nothing holy?
Avatar is a reference to this. Go Blue!
I actually like the helmet. But the jersey is God-awful. Horrible. Why can't they just wear the regular jersey? People pay a sh-tload of money to travel to these bowl games. They want to see Michigan as Michigan, not as a side-show circus act. I'll never understand the need to create new designs, especially since every single one of them has been ugly thus far.

Disgruntled former moderator. I got a lot of problems with you people!
Honestly, I don't mind them messing with the white uniforms. The white uniforms have gone through many different forms throughout the years; there's not really a unified 'tradition' with the white unis. It's the home blues which have been unchanged for so long. Those are the ones that I have a problem with changing.
You make a good point. Better to mess with the white than the blue. That said, why can't the special designs be more special and less "special"? People on that stupid show Project Runway (my wife made me watch) could design something better than this piece of garbage. And how much did the AD pay to have these garbage jerseys made?

Helmets are awesome. Jerseys, however, meh. Blue numbers and I think they'd be alright.
Steve and Barry's sell those jerseys. For under 8.50 too
Bo' Money Bo' Problems
*Sold.... How did we ever let a place like that go out of business?
Absolute garbage. I hate Dave Brandon. I hate this jersey, I hate this helmet, I hate the numbers, I hate the logo, I hate the advertisement on the jersey.

Easy there, Herm. Michigan has been wearing bowl patches every year long before Dave Brandon. Whether it was the Capital One Bowl, Allstate Sugar Bowl etc.
For the 2003 Outback Bowl, the actual Outback logo was on the sleeves. Not a patch. It was part of the jerseys.

but stop beating around the bush and tell us how you really feel?
"I'm not a vegetarian b/c I love animals. I'm a vegetarian b/c I hate plants"
Brandon is also the one that is starting the slow transition back to actual traditional 'maize' and away from the highlighter yellow of the last decade. Suppose you hate that too? Brandon's idea after all.
Would you hate the patch if it were for the rose bowl? Didn't think so

Of course not, the Rose Bowl stands for tradition, honor, and classic games from almost a century of continuous play. The "Outback" Bowl is a third-rate, made-up bowl to promote shoddy faux-Australian cuisine to middle-income Midwestern American families so that they can gorge themselves on a helping of meat, potatoes, and pure fat that could sustain a small African village for a week.

This is why Herm is such a necessary part of the MGoBlog community.
I think I'll message the Outback Bowl commissioner that's pulling in multiples of six figures to ask this question: "Why does the Outback Bowl exist?".
I understand such disdain reserved for the "Heart of Dallas Bowl" or the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl, but the Outback Bowl is generally a pretty good one matching quality opponents most years. If you're suggesting it shouldn't exist, then you're the only one that wants to go back to the 1971 and earlier system where only the Big Ten champion goes bowling.

You are aware the Outback bowl is actually the Hall of Fame bowl, right?

The rest - meh. It isn't that I hate it, it just doesn't do a lot for me.
If I were Adidass, I would have left the text off and be confident people would recognize the logo. It is similar to having to use a /s tag - if you have to use it, you're probably doing something wrong.
Every day I am thankful for Herm. He makes me feel a lot younger.
May you have a strong foundation

Anyone who doesn't hate every bit of this can show themselves out.
Shameful.
I do not care even the slightest bit about UNIFORM CONTROVERSY. I know I'm not alone here. The boys are still playing football and they are still representing my school.
For today, goodbye. For tomorrow, good luck. And forever, Go Blue.
The "support the troops" argument. This has nothing to do with criticizing the players. It has everything to do criticizing the leadership.
(Commence: "but the kids love the crazy new stuff"-- STFU--Alabama and USC disagree.)

Surprisingly, me likey those helmets!
