for our psychologocial health, please let us all remember

This may sound strange on a sunny September day when we are sitting 3-0, and looking to go perfect for September.

No, our boys are far from perfect, and they are young and inexperienced.  But we all breather a little easier now, as we know that we are on the way.

But let us not get ahead of ourselves.  We should not expect any BSC bowl this year, and we will only win the Big Ten if the Big Ten is really, really bad.  There is a long way to go to where we really want to be, and let's make sure we are happy and healthy when we get there.  To do that, sometimes requires periods of rest and slightly diminished expectations.

So let us please, please remember that we- at least I did, and you should have too-  promised ourselves that this year that we would simply be happy with a 7-6 season.  That we would take the 7th win any way we could get it- either in the regular season, or at a minor bowl.  Really anything to wipe away the pain and putrid stench of a bowl streak breaking will please us.   We are already nearly halfway there(!)

Any wins this year over ND, Sparty, and especially the Buckeyes will be bonus gifts to be joyously cherished.  (I'd would like to add PSU to that list, but some things just seem meant to be).

This is part of the long-term process of healing and renewal of our tribe (I refuse to call it The Wolverine Nation).  It will make the wins and bigger prizes that await us that much more appreciated in the future.

We of the Michigan will probably always be a bit arrogant, even held as aloof.  But the constant spoiled whining that typified the last few decades ('oh no, not ANOTHER 9-3 season) really had to end.

The Horror and the 2008 season were reminders for us to never take anything in life- and especially in college football- for granted, and to always be truly appreciative and relish the wins when they do come.  We shall find ourselves among the nation's elite soon enough.  Let us please enjoy each thrilling step of the journey there, and the taste of the sweet nectar when we do arrive.

I'm kind of surprised at this post. From the title, I didn't expect punctuation OR capital letters. What happened with the title?

We certainly have a long way to go to become a legit competitor for the MNC, but the progress that has been accomplished between year one and year two is staggering. Considering how young this team is right now, we should be even better the next few years which will let RR restock the cupboards so we are not so thin. It is simply amazing to me. RR's tenacity in the face of all that has transpired since his hiring including leaving WV; crap with the media; and flushing out the undedicated players, impresses me beyond all else. Its great to be able to watch the games thinking what great thing can happen next as opposed to watching the entire second half of games wondering what will blow up and cost us the game...a change in perspective for the fans and the coaches. Go Blue!

Screw all that thoughtful and intelligent perspective! here's what I expect to happen during the next three years. 1. RichRod goes on a 40-0 run 2. We win the next three national championships 3. Tate Win's Three Heisman Trophies 4. Denard beats Usain Bolt in the 100 meter dash 5. We offer up Rosenberg in a virgin sacrifice on pay per view 6. USC's cheerleaders all transfer to Michigan 7. Ooops It's past my bedtime! /s

Our biggest key position has a freshman starter and his backup is a freshman as well. Our LBs seem lost on the field and our secondary is almost as young as the QBs. BUT...we can score on almost any defense and many of the teams we will face the rest of season will have to play very well to keep up. We have something at all the skill positions on Offense that no Michigan team has had in my 44 years...SPEED, REAL SPEED! Be patient, be supportive. They will struggle at times, but they will learn and be all the better for it. If we stay healthy and hungry all season, my predicition from July and August will come true. 9-3 and a Jan. 1 Bowl game! GO BLUE!
