Our First Hello Post for 2012 - Timeline and Prediction
This maybe premature - but I'm pumped about the 2012 recruiting class.
I was wondering who the community thinks will be our first 2012 commit and when will it be coming.
My guess is that it will be an Ohio kid (Wormley) sometime in this next month or so - considering that tOSU already has two other top DEs in the class committed
Thoughts?

it won't be wormley. Very good source is saying he won't declare til after his HS season is done. I'm pulling for richardson and then have him turn into a justice hayes and help recruit everyone else. just my hopes.
February 14th, 2011 at 1:03 AM ^
I wouldn't count on this, Richardson is probably hardest of the three defenders everyone talks about (RJS, Ross) to get.
February 14th, 2011 at 6:14 AM ^
has michigan even offered ross yet?
February 14th, 2011 at 10:27 AM ^
Sam said on WTKA he thought Wormley and RJS would commit before the start of their senior seasons.
February 14th, 2011 at 12:18 AM ^
Good possibility it could be him. He has an offer and has already stated openly that he intends to commit early.
February 14th, 2011 at 12:19 AM ^
But his recent tantrums and attitude made me think otherwise.

^^^This is where my money lies, as well.
February 14th, 2011 at 12:18 AM ^
I'm thinking Royce Jenkins-Stone. He already said he plans on commiting before the season starts. Usually, you don't say something like that unless you're pretty sure you know where youbwant to end up.
February 14th, 2011 at 12:24 AM ^
I'd say RJS has the best chance at this point with his statement to commit before the season. Any rumors on news for coming junior days?
February 14th, 2011 at 12:25 AM ^
Our first commit is going to be some huge sleeper that nobody on this board has ever heard of. A bunch of people will get pissed and say "oh here we go again, we need to get back to the days when Michigan was pulling in 6 star recruits like Charlie Sheen pulls strippers" at which point an incredible influx of 4-star recruits will commit all within a few months including the top players in Michigan which will appease our fanbase greatly and have us on our way to a top 10 class. These events will happen exactly as I described. BKfinest it....Raback it....Lahey it.
February 14th, 2011 at 12:27 AM ^
Responding purely to lock this post in time.
Lahey it.
February 14th, 2011 at 12:28 AM ^
to that
February 14th, 2011 at 12:30 AM ^
you better be right or im coming back to neg the hell out of every post you have ever had. jk... im really hoping your right but i wouldnt mind a big name first just to get the fan base really buzzing
February 14th, 2011 at 1:38 AM ^
"That was awesome Mr.Lahey."
February 14th, 2011 at 12:27 AM ^
i think people are coming to the conclusion its march 5, a few of the upcoming prospects are already set up for unofficals that weekend but thats a best guess.
February 14th, 2011 at 12:27 AM ^
New game. What will Brady Hoke have for breakfast tomorrow? I'm going for bacon and eggs. Although toast has been looking extra healthy lately, especially since going all whole grain on us. But don't look past Southern grits, who is a dark-horse in this race. The speculation is just too much to handle!
February 14th, 2011 at 12:31 AM ^
that Brady Hoke had Buckeyes dipped in Spartan sauce for breakfast lunch and dinner.
February 14th, 2011 at 12:35 AM ^
The line "you eat pieces of sh*t for breakfast" immediately leaps to mind..
February 14th, 2011 at 12:28 AM ^
ron thompson
February 14th, 2011 at 12:37 AM ^
It may be RJS, maybe Richardson.
February 14th, 2011 at 10:07 AM ^
No way Richardson is first hello post.
February 14th, 2011 at 12:38 AM ^
If Jordan Diamond ends up choosing us, I think he will be making his decision pretty early. Also, it wouldn't surprise me if there is an instate prospect who commits immediately upon receiving his offer, similar to Shawn Conway last year.
February 14th, 2011 at 12:40 AM ^
works on JD early and often.
That kid is good
February 14th, 2011 at 9:55 AM ^
ESPN ran a story yesterday about how Michigan was back in the lead for Diamond. Take it FWIW because it's ESPN, but still.
February 14th, 2011 at 10:45 AM ^
My perpetuating thoughts on recruiting. If a high profile OT/QB commit it starts the dominos falling on Offense. Same for D, get a good DT/DL recruit and the LB's/DB's want in. Just my opinion. Build the trenches and the rest will follow.
February 14th, 2011 at 12:51 AM ^
I know somebody who has talked to RJS on multiple occasions, and the feeling he got a while back was that Jenkins-Stone would commit once he received his offer. He told me RJS wasn't going to commit on the spot more recently, but not to worry about him.
February 14th, 2011 at 1:26 AM ^
I was thinking Diamond a week ago but I'm changing my mind to RJS, or some random we haven't heard of yet who commits on the spot. Maybe a less touted guy from Michigan who jumps at the offer?
My guess is still RJS, though.
February 14th, 2011 at 1:48 AM ^
If you look at osu's 2012 commits none of them are DEs. So I have no idea where you are getting this story of them having two DEs committed already.
I'm guessing you mean that osu is favorite to land Adolphus Washinton, Greg McMullen or LaTroy Lewis.
I have no reason to think this, but my guess is for any kid that has been around the program the longest. I don't think our first commit is going to be a kid who has not see the school before.
February 14th, 2011 at 4:13 AM ^
Eats square pizza for breakfast. And if he doesn't get it, well then look out for sh*t hawks.
February 14th, 2011 at 8:21 AM ^
McMullen and Washington are definitely OSU's to lose, but an interesting tidbit on LaTroy Lewis is his stepfather played at UM in the early 90's I believe, so we have that going for us.
I am guessing Ron Thompson, and the timeline being whenever the staff decides to have a JR. day.
February 14th, 2011 at 9:57 AM ^
Hoke and staff made their presense felt in Akron Hoban on NSD. Still, I'd be surprised if McMullen or Lewis ended up anywhere besides OSU. Unless his offer gets pulled, Lewis' heart lies in Columbus, regardless of M ties.
February 14th, 2011 at 8:03 AM ^
My guess would be Stefon Diggs. I don't know why but I just have a feeling he commits soon.
February 14th, 2011 at 8:13 AM ^
February 14th, 2011 at 8:40 AM ^
Blind optimism mostly but having Countess really helps. I also remember him wanting a Michigan offer pretty badly at one point. It's a tough pull but I just have a feeling we end up getting him.
February 14th, 2011 at 9:59 AM ^
We've got some ground to make up, but I do think we'll end up a big player in his recruitment. Expecting a commitment anytime soon is a little silly, however.
February 14th, 2011 at 1:09 PM ^
I don't think Michigan has ground to make up. I think they're definitely up there already. It will be tough to pull him away from home though, IMO.
February 14th, 2011 at 8:33 AM ^
I think it's been pretty commonly accepted that Diggs is going to be extremely tough to pull. He's probaby going to be a top-10 WR and a full-on national recruit. I know it helps that we have Countess coming in, but I don't think that's going to make that much of a difference.
In any event, I'd be thrilled if he went Blue but it will be a tough battle, IMO.
February 14th, 2011 at 8:23 AM ^
Personally I hope it's Wormley. But I have no idea.
February 14th, 2011 at 9:44 AM ^
RJS, Thompson a good possibility.
Richardson, Ross, Wormley, Diamond....those guys are all going to wait for a while, likely into the fall at least.
February 14th, 2011 at 9:57 AM ^
Really hoping for RJS.
February 14th, 2011 at 10:00 AM ^
Of the current players with offers, I'd guess RJS, Diamond, or Thompson.
However, if the coaching staff creates a junior day sometime soon, I'd bet it's someone without an offer right now, who really shows up at the camp, Conway style
February 14th, 2011 at 2:28 PM ^
Me be very happy if we get RJS & Ross... would be great if one of these two became our first commit -- get off to a fast start, attract national attention (even though they are in-state recruits). I'd be surprised if Richardson ends up UM.
February 14th, 2011 at 6:51 PM ^
In speaking with a former teammate and current classmate of both just last week his thoughts were the following. RJS loves Michigan and is over the "i don't have an offer yet" BS. FJS is going to wait until the season starts before he gives anybody a verbal. Richardson has a posse of family members who are telling him to wait and not rush anything. Terry loves Bama and the former teammate thinks Terry is a future Bama player. He did say that last week GM made a big impact with Terry and Michigan is now in a much better spot than they were 2 weeks ago. The USC offer Terry just picked up didn't help though.
My guess on the first hello post... Laron Taylor. (if he gets an offer, which I think he will)
February 14th, 2011 at 7:22 PM ^
If Matt Godin gets an offer (could be at a Junior Day), he'll commit. Hopefully he gets his good buddy Danny O'Brien to come along.
Any word on whether Godin gets an offer? It sounded like he would got sure 6 months ago, but now it seems we're in on a lot of DLs and not giving him a ton of love.
February 14th, 2011 at 7:38 PM ^
It must be hard for the coaches to decide who to offer when it comes to kids that might not be as high on the recruiting board. Having the depth of talent in the midwest this year is great, but at the same time a drawback because we aren't Alabama or Auburn.
