Our Attitude as fans

I know many of you will recognize this but I will not mention any "internet names", but those of you who know this post and or poster go ahead and share if you feel the need. That is not what my post is about, I just want to ask how we as fans should respond to fellow "fans" (it pained me to use that word for them) and if any of you feel the same way. I for one am wholeheartedly against everything this post stands for and have never been more upset with a fellow "fan" (term used loosely). Here we go, from you probably know where and who: "What a disgrace. What an absolute embarrassing act by RR today. He looked like a damn fool up there. He should have said the basic official "we are investigating and I have no comment until after the investigation is complete." And leave it at that. Now we have a crying coach on ESPN. Great. I saw a man who is breaking under the pressure. He can't handle it. He is in way over his head. And it is so clear when watching him today. He isn't going to last much longer. This job is going to destroy him. Everything that the Michigan job brings with it, the added pressure, the added spotlight, the media watching every single little thing you do and pouncing on every slip up you make, he can't handle it. It is beating him down. You have to be a certain type of person to handle the Michigan job and he can't do it. It is clear players don't like him, alumni don't like him, fans don't like him, and some inside the Athletic Department don't like him either. This entire thing is a disaster and never should have happened. Martin botched the hiring processes as bad as you can. Can you imagine what the locker room must be like? This team is divided and they are going to fall a part at the first sign of adversity, which will happen Saturday. All of a sudden that game looks a whole lot harder. The crowd is going to turn on him real quick. When they announce him as head coach I'm predicting a 50/50 reaction of cheers and boos. And if that game starts going Western's way it is going to get ugly. This is the beginning of the end." Again, I did not write this, I do not agree with it, just wanted some opinions and to know if I was overreacting when I told someone I wanted to kick "poster" in the shins. And steal his dog. Nothing against his dog obviously, I would be doing it for the dog's sake. He needs a good home. Anyway...

I obviously don't agree with all that he is saying, but he is entitled to it. There are just those whom find comfort in assuming the worst and hoping for the best. These are people who have been disappointed in their lives many times and like everyone feeling the way that they do. I know it's easy to criticize, who couldn't find a basket of problems surrounding the program now? I think it shows a lot more character to keep the faith that the team will rebound and head on to a great season(s). If you really feel that strongly that this program is headed out of control and going no where then please move your "fan loyalty" to the next team that can keep up your self esteem. I hear Florida should be a nice pick for you seeing as how they're #1 now and have another top ranked recruiting class coming in...we'll see you in January in a couple years.

To quote the poet/philosopher Billy Ocean, "when the going gets tough the tough get going". "any fool can criticize and complain and most do" Forgot who to credit this gem too. RR will be fine. I do not know which poster you are referring too and don't really care what the dumb ass thinks, if what you inserted is typical of his brilliance.

I've never looked at that page before, but it didn't take too long to find out who it was on which website. He quite clearly notes that he graduated all of last year. That would most likely make him 22 or so. Sorry people, but 22's STILL a kid. 22 lacks maturity and enough life experience to realize that 10 years down the line things like this may not make much of a difference. That possibly less than 5 years may erase memories of this. This person obviously doesn't have terribly good control of himself as of yet with the way that post comes off. Give him another 10 years and _hopefully_ he'll do a little maturing and learn to take a somewhat longer view of things other than the next 10 minutes. EDIT: Their terms of service require posters to control themselves. I would say he violates their terms of service. That was just about more troll than true fan, that post.

Is that a LZ picture? If it is, I wouldn't imagine you're extremely young. However, if you are, I would say you do a somewhat better job of controlling yourself and looking at a more complete picture than the poster on that other site. I've not got a great handle on who's what around here but I know run your blog and you're a Wings fan on top of everything else. So that pushes you up a notch as far as I'm concerned.

IMHE, there are two major categories of posts from fellow fans, each of which requires a different response. 1) If a fellow fan exhibits a different epinion from your own, and from your perspective, shows ignorance or stupidity, I would just ignore it and move on. There's actually an old book that speaks to this situation. Here's the relevant quote: "Anyone who rebukes a mocker will get an insult in return. Anyone who corrects the wicked will get hurt. So don’t bother correcting mockers; they will only hate you. But correct the wise, and they will love you." Because of the anonymity of bloggers, and because I can't count the number of times I have read "turn your sarcasm meter on," it seems rarely worth taking issue with a post you disagree with. With the exception of well known bloggers (i.e., mgoblog mods & Brian,) you can't assume anyone will accept correction. To put it another way, "you can't fix stupid." 2) If a fellow fan exhibits a different epinion from your own, but suggests violence toward someone (especially women,) suggests rape, lynching, stalking, uses extremely offensive language, gets into racist comments, etc., etc., you need to forward the link to [email protected]. Let mgoblog decide, but this kind of stuff needs the banhammer, points reset to zero, or significant censure at the least.

He's trying to explain to you that the OP is quoting another poster somewhere, on a mystery message board that I can't recall. It isn't exactly clear, perhaps Blockquotes would have made it clearer. The quote is from a someone who clearly is not a fan of RichRod.

There are a lot of dickheads posing as "Michigan Fans" but for the most part, the overwhelming majority of true Michigan fans and alums support the program and want it to succeed... a house divided usually does not stand...
