Our 2012 team heading into Dallas to face Bama

Yes, I know a select few of you will hate this topic and say emo, but this is not a worthless far off depth chart projection. Its an evaluation of where we will be strong and where we need to improve if we want to compete with elite teams. Dave Brandon made a bold move by scheduling Alabama, with the eyes of the nation upon us. This will be our opportunity to show the college football world that we belong. So here is what we may be looking at:

QB: Denard will be a senior, hopefully poised for a Heisman run.

RBs: Should be loaded. Hart will be a sophomore, and we will have Smith, Fitz and Hopkins as well.

WRs: Roundtree will be a senior, and most likely our #1 target. Guys like Ricardo, Stokes, Jackson, and Gallon will have to step up to replace Jr, Stonum and Odoms. If Watkins commits, I'd suspect he'd have a great shot at starting.

TE: Moore will be a senior, but who knows what we have in him. Getting a quality TE this year is very important.

OL: Should be a strong veteran group with Lewan, Barnum, Khoury, Omameh and Schofield.

DL: DE's should be strong with Roh, Black, Wilkins and hopefully Zettel. We need our young guys in the middle to develop. Washington, Ash, Talbott ect. This is a question mark.

LBs: Demens will be our senior leader at MLB. Cam Gordon and Mike Jones will be Jrs, and should have starting experience. Add in guys like Furman, Ryan, Bell, Kellen Jones, and we should have great depth.

Secondary: CBs should be a veteran group with Avery, CC and Talbott as Jrs, JT Floyd as a senior, and guys like Crawford and Hollowell. At safety, Vinopal and Carvin will be Jrs with significant playing time. Kovacs will be a senior, and don't count out Marvin Robinson surpassing him.

Obviously there is a lot that is unknown, but I think there is definite reason to be optimistic that things are headed in the right direction for a showdown.

with two more years, roundtree really has an opportunity to have an amazing career and move up in the record books with some pretty decorated michigan players.

Forgot about kind of an important part of the team that we are lacking in right now.

We need a kicker who can consistently kick off into the opponents end zone.  It's an intimidating way to start a half or top off a score.  Remember a young man named Hayden Epstein...  That was awesome!

We really shouldn't have any weaknesses on offense. Maybe WR, but Watkins would completely solve that. On D, we could use a little more depth at OLB, DT and S, but I expect to get at least one more 2011 recruit for those spots and they would be sophs in 2012, old enough to provide some depth. Chris Rock and Kenny Wilkins are both big ends, so one of them might be able to move inside a la RVB if necessary.

Other wisdom around these parts suggests that, assuming realistically that a home-and-home was not an option, this is a cool opportunity for the school and the players at a fundamentally minimal cost.

I also disagree with this conventional wisdom. Maybe it's because I don't live near Ann Arbor, but I think a one time, neutral site game carries a lot more hype than a home and home. Plus these guys get to play in a huge, new stadium that many will never get a chance to.

Chip in accounting is looking strong this year. Should be fine there.

Deb in payroll looks like the weak link. Might need to find a replacement.

Rick on the production floor has good feet and a hard edge. Came in with a lot of hype.

Just interviewed Mike, looks like a superstar. A little short, but he has fluid hips.

I think the FUCK Co. should be headed in the right direction for that showdown with the HOLY SHIT LLC in 2012.

Let's also not forget that Alabama will be breaking in a new head coach, a new compliance department, and perhaps a whole new batch of "hostesses" for that game.  So, yeah, go blue!

I love this match-up...and hope we get more of these, instead of the Eastern Michigans & UConns!

I do worry about our depth, defense & special teams but, hopefully, recruiting will take care of that in the next 2 years...and IMO, it's totally worth the gamble. Not to mention, beating Nick Saban would be SWEET!!

Hopefully, I can find tix & go cheer on the Wolverines...GO, BLUE!!
