OTsh- Chris Webber on TV right now

Submitted by Steve in PA on

I'm doing some stuff around the house and my daughter is watching Cartoon Network.  I hear someone talking about the fab 5, so I peek around the corner.  There's a large man in a silver outfit that looks like aluminium foil and a blue bike helmet.

Sure enough, it's Webber doing a charity thing with kids on "Hole in the Wall".  Was kinda nice to see him interacting with children.

but this board is getting ridiculously watered down..... dare I say approaching RCMB status.

Look, I know it's in our nature to want to participate and to want to be noticed but this isn't Facebook.  Not everything has to be shared on the board.

FYI:  The show is "Hole in the Wall."  Chris Webber is indeed on an episode, as is Deshean Jackson..... and that episode first aired a month ago.

debating over whether to lie about your salary in a job interview is different than discussing one of the most controversial players in michigan athletics. while it is not insightful or analytical, it is still interesting to some to see this kind of thing, which is why its a board post and not a diary. no one is making you click on the link. title was informative enough. give OP a break.

first aired a month ago.  A month from now, when it is replayed, and another member sees it for the first time and runs to this board to share, will you have as much patience?

You don't have to run to the board and post everything you think is remotely interesting, especially when it is old news.

I'll give the OP this..... at least it wasn't another perspective in regards to the OSU saga.

Here are some select threads from RCMB at 11:39 EST today:

--Can you fart in your sleep?

--Question for Amateur Astronomers

--Why are most kids nowadays pure scumbags?

--RCMB Hot Chick Draft

--Dear Stephen Ross, F You

--I prefer green grapes

--Bulls=Spartans, Heat=Crimson Tide

--Vasectomy Advice

Yep.  I can totally see the parallels between the Mgoboard of today and the RCMB of today.

One of my OT threads got caved the other day.  I understand the need to keep clutter on the board to a minimum but it seems to me like too many posters are trying to make their bread by being MGoVigilantes and attacking the OT threads, making them longer and more "controversial" in the process.

Besides, it's the offseason and we've already reported and dissected all the osu scandal updates of the day.

If I'm a thread killing vigilante, what does it make you when you will have more posts in this thread than me (or anyone else) when it's all said and done?

I think he had found work and was in the process of moving from (Pittsburgh?) to Michigan, and getting settled down. When he's all set up, I'm hoping we'll see more of him (though maybe less of those 4 am insanity threads).

Of course, half the reason for that was there were like 6 people who could post during the CC because the site kept crashing, and had been either limited to only on the App, or at least only starting threads on the App.  Ahhh...not good for the Board, but like most crisis-type situations, you can look back and remember the fun....

was an intentional exageration to provide emphasis to the underlying point.

RCMB is the way it is because of member overload....  everyone feels a need to contribute and so you end up with the type of threads that you list.

We aren't near that level, but it is obvious that people are trying hard to break news that they feel is unique.  I think people are starting to try too hard.

I wish there was more discretion in posting just because you have to filter through all the crap to get the good stuff. Great posts get missed because someone wants to start a topic about what some talking head said on espn or what they heard on the radio. Perhaps we just need better moderation. If the time wasters just get deleted then eventually it will get better.

From the front page to the board, it's been a lot of "why we're good Michigan fans and they're not" (just as guilty here too). Frankly, if we were covering more news, which there has been quite a bit of for May, that'd be good, but I'd take a nice "Favorite song from a musical" or "best video game EVAR" thread for the off season, because those were a lot more fun than the on-topic stuff that's been around lately. I think taking stuff off the board for OT stupidity is fine, but for being "too OT"...I don't know, if it's interesting or entertaining, keep it.

Might be time to revive some of those "find out about the posters usernames/high school teams/avatar threads", because there certainly are a lot of new posters who haven't done any of that. And it can't be any more painful than things are right now.

This board has just eclipsed Scout in stupidity and you want it to be taken back to levels of intelligence where threads like this aren't welcome?

WE NEED MORE "I HAD A DREAMZ AND TALKED TO MY SPARTAN GRAD MOMZ" threads!

I mean, why pay 10 bucks a month to sift thru stupid shit like this on Scout when you can get it here for FREE! AND have sissy points to boot!

(Not to mention someone, somewhere who now labels posts as "Funny" or "Redundant" or "Informative") Wow, we are sooooo much more intellegentz than all the rest of the internetz!

We've come to the point where we're going to get a thread every time some guy from Michigan takes a shit.

Bored house-husbands just might be the only thing worse than bored housewives.

You guys are something elts.

It seems there are a lot of people here who find it extremely hard to not click on a thread, even if the title implies a topic outside of their scope of interest.  I promise you, it's actually quite easy to read the title, think to yourself, "No, that sounds boring to me." and move on.  It's also a lot faster than adding several posts expressing your feelings (which only add to the clutter anyway).
