i feel a bit bad for Rawls. While it doesn't make sense, temptation is a hard thing. Who of us doesn't like free money? Two observations:

  1. As a matter of principle, just do the right thing, whether or not someone is looking. There's a book I recall with the title, Who You are When No One is Looking. (not a link.) Still, it is a question worth considering. It makes life a lot easier when you live the right way, regardless of who is watching or who knows.
  2. A corollary, especially in this social media age, is that someone is always looking. You should just assume that someone out there is aware of everything, that a camera is rolling, that someone is taping, that someone is talking. So, even if you don't choose reflexively to do the right thing no matter what, choose to do the right thing because there are no secrets any more.

Since when is finding a purse (or wallet) finding "free money".? The god damn thing belongs to someone and it is rather easy to find the owner.

Any one but a low life thief would turn it in to security without using the credit cards or helping themselves to cash.

Unfuckingbelievable.

This is even stupider than Jayru Campbell getting arrested on assault charges just hours after being released from jail.

Impulse control is a good thing.

Happened in April and he played the first 2 games. CMU said they found out Friday, but just imagine if Hoke allowed a player with pending felony charges to play and the shit storm that would ensue. The Daily would have a field day.

That seems difficult to believe.  You can't swing a dead cat in and around Mt.P without hitting a police car (Tribal, City, DPS, State, County).  And these guys all talk.

Even if CMU wasn't officially notiied by the Tribe, I'm 100% certain Mt. Pleasant is small enough for word to get from M-20 to Broomfield Rd. before the start of the season.

But not approving of actions is not the same as cheering for success. Clark was arrested, adjudicated and returned to the team after the legal system had determined his consequences for his actions. Do I approve of his actions? No. Do I hope that he keeps his nose clean, graduates from Michigan, and has success in life? Yes. Will I cheer for him while he does so and hope he succeeds? Yes. Similarly, do I approve of Rawls' actions? No. Do I hope that Rawls will turn his life around after accepting the legal consequences for his actions? Yes. Will I cheer for him if he does so? Probably. Don't see a contradiction here. Nor do I see anything of which to be ashamed. Cheer for Clark if you want - or don't. I choose to, and hope that he keeps turning into someone who we'll be proud to call an alumnus of the University of Michigan.

but assault and battery and drunk driving are typically misdemeanors. All these things are terrible and should be punished but I bet the stealing usually gets you in a lot more trouble than the other two.

Thought I would "Chip" in on this. I go to CMU and him being here has been nice for the first two weeks of the season, rushing for over 100 yards in each game. He missed last Saturday's game against Syracuse for an unspecified reason and then this story broke today.

We talked about this in my newswriting class today because it was obviously relevant and a woman spoke up in class saying she has been Rawl's girlfriend for 5 years. It made for an incredibly awkward end to the conversation as she said she didn't want to add anything other then the fact that what has been released isn't the whole story. Part of me wants to believe her...but it certainly looks like he messed up here.

Sad. I was so proud of all the goos that was coming to him and how he was playing. His career is done w 4 felonies and video surveillance to back it up. I wish he could've made better decisions

How he was able to afford all those tatts.  Out of curiousity, did Rawls have a father in his life or was he raised by a singel mother?

I am as racist as you are.. It's a legit question because if he didn't have a father in life, then it would explain a lot. I bet you think this woman is a racist too for talking about race. I guess in your politically correct world, there souldn't be any discussion at all on cultural matters. If you are done pointing fingers and making baseless claims, you can go stick your head back in the ground.

Those that like to name call usually can't explain because they are typically intellectually dishonest and can't debate the issue. You madame, are an intellectually dishonest troll.

Just read about this, wtf?  Rawls did this in April?  He was still a student here, he graduated in May.  How does this not come to light for 5 months?  He transferred to CMU in July and they knew nothing?

Glad he's CMU's problem now and not ours.
