OTish: MSU Hockey coach Tom Anastos steps down.

Submitted by jman077 on

Six seasons, 1 NCAA Tourney appearance, a general decline in Michigan State hockey. Here's a link: http://www.msuspartans.com/sports/m-hockey/spec-rel/032117aaa.html

Certainly makes Michigan hockey's offseason potentially more urgent, might change the tenor of Warde and Red's upcoming conversation. Hollis took this long to make this happen so who knows how an MSU coaching search looks this time.

that Red is retiring and UM has started a search for his replacement. One call is probably all that is needed, but if not, I am confident we can land a top tier coach.

Embarrassing hire in the first place that reeked of nepotism cause he was boy's with Hollis. The guy hadn't coached in 20 years, he would have barely been qualified to coach a high school team when he got the job in 2011.

Shockingly, he turned MSU into the worst hockey program in the country.

Hollis may not be around for another year, between the football team rape scandal, the gymnastics doctor molestation scandal, and the resurfacing of the marching band director sexual misconduct scandal showing a lack of institutional control.  This could be Anastos pulling a "rat leaving the sinking ship" thing while the getting is good...

this may be a last ditch effort by Hollis to steal our thunder and take our future coach in a bidding war. If programs are starting over it's in their interest to make a splash at the same time as their rival.

This columnist in the Lansing State Journal called Anastos...AND I QUOTE, "a good dude" in an article in a freaking newspaper.

...and they wonder why we call them "bros"...
