A little advice: picking up girls at Southland can be tricky. You want to have your mom drop you off at the Hudson's furniture receiving area, this is the least visible part of the mall. You will be in the least female oriented part of the mall, which is a good way to slowly make your presence felt. Head south towards woodworths stopping to "ticlkle the ivories" at the wirlitzer store. This is directly across the concourse from the Z Cavarici and chess King, where many choice girls hang out. Play it cool and walk slowly over to Structure, which has professional but stylish men's clothes, perfect to let the ladies know you are not all work and no play. Proceed to Foot Locker and see if they have any of the fresh White Sox or Atlanta Falcons gear, also consider a Starter brand Raiders coat. This will establish you as having some street cred. Next, stride right past KayBee toys, do not go in and look at Legos. Go to Sam Goody and hit the listening station, maybe pick up a cassingle, may I suggest some gangster rap like Rob Base or Young MC (be sure to pocket this so your parents don't see). By now you are at the main fountain where all the girls are. Be sure to stay on the perimeter to get a good view of the selection. You need to abandon your instinct and resis talking to them. As you are near the theater, one you talk to might have a ticket and need to hurry off, thus putting you too far out there. Just wait and watch. A typical movie like Die Hard 2 or Days of Thunder lasts about 90 minutes, so you will need to be comfortable. Once you are sure which girls are your prey and which ones are movie goers and waiting for a ride, you wil be hungry. Go over to Olga's, which is back past Chess King. Get 3 original Olga's, a curly fry and the biggest orange shake they have. Eat it all. Look at the time and slink back through Hudson's, slowing down to ogle the mannequins in bras. Get in mom's car and go home. Repeat every weekend for 5 years.

that place has really gone into the dumpster lately, I almost long for those days and definitely wish that Hudson's was back or at least Marshall Field's, Macy's is way to ghetto for my taste.

Oh and you forgot about the Plum Tree and Mervyn's.

I'm coming to Ann Arbor for a conference this weekend and the bus departs Sunday at noon

:(

EDIT: My critical reading skills blow... Taylor, not Ann Arbor.

I got him to sign my F/S under the lights helmet at lakeside mall dc sports last Saturday I was sad because he WILL NOT sign "shoelace".. I asked if maybe a memorabilia place like Steiner sports or upper deck maybe paid him for the exclusive (whitey ford the Yankee pitcher has an exclusive contract with Steiner on inscribing "chairman of the board") and they said no. Also they said they went direct through his agent and not even his agent knew he didn't want to sign "shoelace".. But it's still sweet but I am a little disappointment
