Other Michigan fans in Ohio can your friends take the jokes?

Submitted by no joke its hoke on
After the beating I have taken the last 10 years in Ohio I have been taking my fair jabbs at tsio and my friends even best friends can not take it! lol other Michigan fans in Ohio are you getting the same really, really pissed buckeye respones about the"playfull" banter?? Wow when the tide has turned they can't take it. Example: I posted a pic of Hoke and a it said all your recruits belong to us. One response was Thats the only way we could beat them is buy stealing recruits and not selling our program. Lol which I added was better than having to offer extra benefits for players to commit. Lol

This has been the only decade since OSU became a national power that they have dominated Michiagn, the 50s-80s were pretty even, the 90s were owned by you and the 00s owned by us. It's fair to say OSU and Michigan have dominated the conference, which was my point. If I were a Michigan fan, I wouldn't expect OSU to become Iowa all of a sudden.

I was thinking more like Notre Dame - former power with the occassional really good season that just can't seem to get the mojo back like it once was.  Always in the title hunt preseason but not in November.  Top 25 but out of the top 10 by the end of the year.  And that continues until the next Tressel or Hayes finally comes along.  Or cheating gets back to the '00's level.

OSU and Michigan in the modern era are 20-20-2. No dominance. If you want to go Pre-Tressel cheating his ass off, Michigan was 19-11-2 vs. OSU. If you want to go back further than that, we can just look at all time Big Ten categories. But you won't like it, because OSU has always been the #2 team in the conference in all categories that matter. Wins. Head to head. Championships. It'll be even more when they revoke the fraudulent titles.

I didn't phrase my dominance line correctly. Some Michigan fans seem to be assuming OSU is going to fall off the map and be a Wisconsin level team. My point is that this conference will always be Michigan's and Ohio State's. OSU will take their medicine and be right back to winning 3 or more conference titles a decade again, which is their precedent. Perhaps 30-40% of the conference titles in a decade isn't "dominating," but it's certainly not mediocre either. Just like these last 3 years for Michigan have been an abberation, OSU's post NCAA penalty years will be one too.

Ohio State Buckeyes (Big Ten Conference) (1988–2000)
1988 Ohio State 4–6–1 2–5–1 T–7th
1989 Ohio State 8–4 6–2 T–3rd L Hall of Fame   21
1990 Ohio State 7–4–1 5–2–1 5th L Liberty
1991 Ohio State 8–4 5–3 T–3rd L Hall of Fame
1992 Ohio State 8–3–1 5–2–1 2nd L Citrus 19 18
1993 Ohio State 10–1–1 6–1–1 T–1st W Holiday 10 11
1994 Ohio State 9–4 6–2 2nd L Citrus 9 14
1995 Ohio State 11–2 7–1 2nd L Citrus 8 6
1996 Ohio State 11–1 7–1 T–1st W Rose 2 2
1997 Ohio State 10–3 6–2 T–2nd L Sugar 12 12
1998 Ohio State 11–1 7–1 T–1st W Sugar 2 2
1999 Ohio State 6–6 3–5 T–8th
2000 Ohio State 8–4 5–3 4th L Outback

13 seasons, 3 Big Ten Championships(all co-champs, no outright), 5 seasons finished unranked in AP( 6 in the coaches), only 3 seasons in the Top 10 of the AP(5 in the coaches).  If that's OSU "dominating" before the Tressel era, then we will take them being "mediocre" for 3-4 seasons

I'm glad I don't work or live near you, buckeyejonross.  Celebrating past victories that were achieved with cheating, is just sad.  I grew up in the Woody Hayes era, and even when we lost to OSU, you still had to respect the Buckeyes.  Not anymore.  Woody would puke at the sight of Buckeye fans like you.

I don't care if we're Darth Vader or not. To each his own. The field is tilted, you gotta do what you gotta do to survive, we didn't pay players, we didn't shave points, we didn't change grades, our players sold their property for spending money and tattoos. If that's our crime then who cares? My attitude would be totally different if we did the other stuff, but as far as I'm concerned the rule is dumb and I'm not naive enough to think star athletes don't get the same treatment at other schools (right Mrs. McCoy?)

Shouldn't we wait for everything to come out before we really make these arguments? You're arguing from the position that the only thing your school is guilty of is having players sell memorabilia; most of the other posters on here (myself included) are arguing from a position that there was much more going on. And both sides agree that Tressel lied to the NCAA multiple times (I mean, I assume you agree with that). Really, the chasm between what each side is assuming is too great to make arguments about what competetive advantages were/weren't gained; this argument will be better-had after the full investigation.

One last jab- Clarrett was making everything up too, right? About the grades, the cars, etc? Remember when the school fired his tutor because she backed his story? (Sorry, couldn't resist).

was having a coach lie to the NCAA 3 times, and an administration that did pretty much the same.  Not to mention questionable monitoring of your football program which most of the 'noise' has unearthed.

Clarett was not a liar, he was thrown under the bus.  Same thing with Pryor, thrown under the bus.

This is your program, this is Ohio State football.  The true SCUM of the Big 10.

or ineligible receiver downfield or holding penalty you tell yourself "that's okay, my eyes saw what really happened, that touchdown will always count in my book. You may take away the score on paper, but you can't take away my memories." Lol, what a joke. We'll all remember the last decade too, but non buckeye fans will remember it a little differently than you will.

I live in the belly of the beast when it comes to tsio fans and Sarah Palin. They don't like jokes about either. As far as the tsio jokes all they say is this is how you want to beat us!? I then say it takes cheating, lying about improper benefits and other sleazy techniques. So if you are fine using those techniques to beat Michigan! then I am fine watching you lose because of NCAA sanctions!

My wife posted pics of our daughter in a Michigan outfit and someone commented that she looks cute except for the ugly outfit. My wife responded that we'd put her in an OSU outfit for their sake but we're afraid she'd end up with a tattoo or a car and we just aren't ready for that. Not mind blowing, but it goes to show that I'm converting her year by year.

and i'm a shittalking fool, but i've been passing on opportunities, mostly because well, recruiting doesn't equal wins in november.

You should focus your shittalking on NCAA investigations, the media exposing an academic institution lacking in basic values and covering for a football coach at the cost of its own reputation (it is still, after all, a university, and not just a football program) and a win-at-all-cost fanbase that doesn't have the moral compass to distinguish between the taste of a stolen candy bar and one that was earned -- and properly feel shame for having enjoyed it.
