They'd be stupid not to. I still think we're in good shape if we can show we can still maximize his skills. His tweets also said that he doesn't want to leave or sit out a year.

dont see it happening, but what if denard went out of the way to contact a different coach? Can that coach then speak to denard, or is that illegal too?

initate the contact then it's not illegal.  The coach is free to talk to Denard as long as the coach doesn't directly contact Denard first.

It's clever that they called his HS coach to inquire about Denard.  I'm sure that his HS coach will relay that info to Denard.

There has to be tons of schools who runs the spread option, lining up to get Denard.

We can all speculate but I dont think anyone knows yet, even Denard.

I am surprised coaches can proactively call players at other schools and try to poach, seems like that would be off limits, given all the NCAA rules.  It clearly cant be in the best interests of the "student-athlete" like the NCAA always claims they are looking out for.

1. Muschamp calls Denard's HS Coach

2. HS Coach calls Denard telling him Muschamp's interest and provides his number

3. Denard calls Muschamp about possibly transferring

All legit since Muschamp did not contact Denard.  Don't mean to muddy Florida's reputation, but they are in the SEC!

It would definitely hurt to see Denard go as he seems like a great person and a special athlete. However, lets not overvalue one player. As we have seen this year, it takes 22 players to compete on the big level. If Denard wants to go somewhere else then his heart is not here at UM and he was not the team player/competitor we all thought. he was.  Michigan is built off of years of tradition and hard work by several thousands of people not one person. Tom Brady was once considering transferring but he stayed because he had something  to prove. Let's hope Denard makes the same decision.

The only thing? Denard accounted for over 4,000 yards last season IIRC. He's the team's unquestioned leader. It's not armegeddon, but don't shrug it off that it's only a problem because Tate's no longer enrolled, etc. Denard's the best quarterback, athlete, and football player on the team, in my opinion.
