That is all. Needed to vent after studying for last week. Delete if need be.

You have a couple of rough weeks and the rest of the experience is incredible. Every week is rough for me. Enjoy college, don't take it for granted. It's been 4 years since I graduated and would give anything for another year.

Yes, finals suck for all of us. But how about this:

The football team is practicing a couple hours a day for the next two weeks before they leave for Florida. The players have to fit in their studying around hours of practice, meetings, and conditioning sessions.

The hockey team is preparing for literally the biggest hockey game ever.

The basketball team was in South Carolina this time a week ago, and made it back for class on Wednesday, then had a game on Saturday and one Monday. When finals actually start they have a game on Tuesday (the study day) and the following Saturday.

The soccer team has to travel to California this weekend, and will hopefully be there until Sunday night playing in the biggest games of their career so far.

Let's all appreciate how hard our student-athletes work both in and out of season at this prestigious university. I can't imagine how hard it is for them to do everything for their sport on top of classes they take.

it's definitely final week.

I'm in grad school at Xavier.  I'm already done with two classes and have one final left to study for next week(this week is still class week but next week is finals week).  The final is not culimative.  A lot less workload than at Michigan.

I feel your pain with orgo 2 lab so much worse than orgo 1 lab definitely worthwhile getting in a lab with some of my buddies I hope I never have to see an NMR sheet or do another TLC test

when I was in school I remember how the stress just seemed to melt away when finals were over.  It was a great feeling.  Remember that feeling.  It gets you through it.

I'm on the slooooooooooow road to an engineering masters, one per semester, so one final isn't too bad.

Unfortunately, Michigan has a very limited distance education network, so all of my $$$ (ok, my company's $$$) goes to USC, booooooo.

On that note, I wish Michigan Engineering did offer a wide variety of online masters degrees.  It doesn't require much to setup and is a guaranteed cash cow since a majority of the students are from major corporations where education is paid upfront or reimbursed.

AND Every Prof thought that HIS was the ONLY class that YOU were taking.

Worst finals experience was having three 2-hr exams in one day.

GOOD LUCK!

Finished Evidence Monday, Energy Reg Thursday, then 3 more after that. Looking forward to drinks on my flight home on Dec 17 makes studying tolerable. Does anyone else get the feeling before exams that you just can't wait to take them. Not excited, just an anxiousness to get them over with.

Finals week always sucked balls, especially when you had engineering projects on top of exams. Grad school is like night and day, I highly recommend it to those considering it. I was done before Thanksgiving and had a week off of class to study for all my finals. Since I've been back from Thanksgiving I've been hanging out with kids every day. The best part is if the school has a snow day I get a snow day.

Yeah, not my experience in CSE here at UMich. Three projects due this week and next, and then under a week before exams are due.

It's less busy work, but more work overall IME. I'm sure it depends on where you are and what classes you're taking though.

(though not at U-M), and the regimen is nothing short of brutalizing; it's not a cliche to say that you survive 1L exams more than you experience them. Might be different for whatever program you're in (Masters?) but it's pretty brutal in grad school, where mountain-dew-and-cramming three nights before the exam is a recipe to set the curve for the class... and not in the way you want.

If I could go back to Michigan undergrad exams, brutal though they seemed at the time, I'd trade in the law books in a heartbeat.

But time marches on, as will your time at Michigan, so get through your exams and may their misery make you all the more resolved to squeeze every bit of joy possible out of your days in Ann Arbor, and leave something behind you'll remember with pride!

Sorry bro, too bad your professors don't drop a test at the end of the year like almost all of mine do. It's saving me some serious stress. Thank you ASU for being such an easy school!

Even though the school I am in is top 5 in the nation. Del E. Webb FTW.

Currently trudging through a compiler design + a final.  Ugh!  At least I'll be able to watch UM play a football game past November.  That's always a nice carrot!

Done today.  Feels about nice as you can imainge, though having a whole extra semester to graduate?  Less nice.   The alcohol, she will quiet my fears tonight.

This is my last semester. Studying for these finals is as painful of an experience I have had in my academic career.

1, 20 page paper

3 exams, 1 is a blue book

1 quiz

1, 10 page paper

1 research proposal paper of 15 pages.

Shoot me.

I am the only one who didn't really mind studying for finals?  There was something about sitting alone in Weill at the middle of the night, chugging Coke and Mountain Dew, chewing (thought I given it up since then, thank God), and cramming for a history final that I hadn't done any of the reading for or paid attention in the lectures.  Its hard to explain, but I knew that failure wasn't an option, so therefore I knew that I would learn the material that night (this only works for liberal arts majors), so I wasn't worried at all.  There's also something about walking home alone at 5:30 in the snow in Ann Arbor.  I would sing sometimes.  I truly enjoyed the experience.

I wasn't on quite as miserable a study regimen as you, but there is truly no experience in my life like walking at 5:30 AM through snow in ann arbor, totally untouched as far as the eye could see except for the footsteps tracing a solitary path behind me.

Good times, nice to know someone else cherished the experience, even though we likely went to M years apart.

I honestly think the massive amount of caffeine, combined with the hours up between brief sleep sessions (as in 40+hours), causes me to be in a state of euphoria. Nothing like walking home from the library in the wee hours of the morning, watching cars pass by, realizing that while these people are headed to work, I am headed to my bed.

Then, waking up and cramming a few more hours in before the exam. And then two hours later, I can't remember the test, what I studied, nor why all the rum is gone.

You elders really missed out on Red Bull. And I mean that in the most sincere way possible. Like, seriously. I don't know how I would function during finals week without it.  Mountain Dew is a close second, but there's something about chugging the power of a bull that gets the blood flowing.

You kids with your new games and ways to put off doing work. My house's game of choice was NHL 94 for the genesis. The tournaments would get pretty intense (like camping). Also, I once put off writing my final until 4 in the morning the day of because a Planet of the Apes marathon came on. Eat it youngsters.

I have no finals this semester.  Three significant papers/projects that'll take 3-4 hours, but no exams.  I am happy.

Now next semester, when I'm student teaching and waking up at 6am everyday... yeah, not so happy.

Anyone know of any easy classes required for my bio major? I would want it to be one of those first 4 classes....animal physiology  or intro to neuroscience? Which is easier?

The first semester of grad school was easily the most writing I've ever done over a short period of time, something like 80 pages in 10 days. I remember handing stuff in thinking, "I have no idea if any of this makes sense" (and it actually mattered that I made sense, since 10 of those pages were a funding application for the following year).

Yeah I was blessed with having an easy semester this school year I only had two exams to study for and 2 take home exams. I had an easy time this semester, however I took 16 credits in the winter/spring, 11 in the summer, and 17 this fall, so I'm so ready to be done with classes for awhile.

Be thankful for the classes you do take, I am not looking forward to graduating at all haha....

... For real, enjoy it while you can...

If you guys thought drinking coke products was an efficient way to stay up--and for you recent grads, Red Bull--try Four Loko. That shit will get you an A, guaranteed. However, you have to make sure you keep drinking since you'll be blackout while studying. If you wake up from that, you're pretty screwed.

Have both my EECS 281 and 370 exams on the 15th.

The 370 instructors were nice enough to move their final back 30 minutes so that I have a full hour between the tests. Yup, that fixes everything!

I went to my graduation ceremony,  went out to dinner with my parents, then headed back to the computer lab in the basement of the FXB (it's the aerospace engineering building to you non-aero types) to finish my AERO 481 design project which our prof. had given the entire class an extension to finish.  I think I spent the bulk of the next 24 hours in that room finishing it up.   Got an A, at least.
