Corp left because he probably felt he had no shot at being a contributer with Barkley starting. If I was in his shoes I'd do the same thing, but go to a D-1 school. I'm pretty sure that he has his reasoning

Instant PT. I think he already used his redshirt so he would only have 1 year of playing and thats thinking that he even wins the starting QB job.

After watching Corp throw grounders to his receivers during the Washington game, I realized why Barkley started.
USC also has another 5 star guy, Foles, behind Barkley. Corp was never going to play.

Was a 4* coming out of HS right, or 5* either one. If they didn't get Barkley then Corp would be their starter without doubt.

Anybody know the story on Mustain - his chances for success now that Barkley is the QB, and his thoughts on the wisdom of transferring from Arkansas?

Well, to bring it into relief, remember that Houston Nutt (not Mike Leach) was the first coach to get fired because of parent complaints. Mustain and his pansy-a$$ crew of receivers couldn't deal with the fact that Nutt wanted to hand off to two NFL-caliber running backs instead of play a freshman quarterback and frosh receivers. It is a mark of great shame that a man as accomplished as Frank Broyles allowed parents to run his coach out of town.
(This was compounded by a weird situation wherein Gus Malzahn was hired to Arkansas to get those Springdale kids onto the team, but he wasn't allowed to run "his" offense. Also the fact they ripped off the name 'Wildcat' from a coaching colleague of mine and tried to deny him credit for the name.)
Back to the point: Mustain's mom went to the Arkansas AD and then he went to USC, and now he's on the bench. Super poetic justice for stage parents and their pre-Madonna kids.

This really reminds me of Matt Gutierrez except Corp didn't lose his job after an injury. Good luck to him.

I live in the LA area and the saga of A Corp and Matt Barkley has been playing itself out for quite a while. Aaron was designed the starter in Pre season and then got injured. Barkley stepped in and Petey's love for the Blond bombshell shown thru even thru the failures of a real lackluster Frosh Year. Aaron saw the writing on the wall and knew he would never even have a chance to start. As far as Mustain well a real lost cause never given much of a chance either because of his skills or Petey's love for the others. If you get chance catch Petros & Money on Fox Sports Radio (7PM-10PM EST) sometime. Petros is a USC Alum ex Football Capt. and does not have much good to say about how Petey has treated the never wrong Matt Barkley and religated the others to obscurity. He is right on with his assessment.

I think that Houston Nutt screwed the whole program. He got Mitch, Damian Williams(USC reciever), and three more Springdale boys to commit after Gus Malzahn(Springdale High coach) was hired as the OC. UA gets blown out in the opener by USC, and Mitch starts the next eight games. They win all eight with a true freshman qb and two future first round picks in the backfield. Malzahn was calling the plays until Nutt realized that the he had a top ten team and he needed the credit for the offense. The play calling changes dramatically. Mitch throws a pick early in the South Carolina game and gets pulled. Casey Dick goes on to lose three of the last four games, including the Citrus Bowl against Wisconsin. Mitch transfers because Nutt and Broyles were idiots and made promises to get these kids to stay home and play at UA. Mitch, Damian, and Gus all leave a school that would have been better off with Houston leaving sooner.

Granted, it's a pretty good dilemma to have, but if you just keep bringing in 5*'s who all think they need to be the starter from Day 1, some will transfer. It's not a problem if you continue to bring in 5*'s (like Pete Carroll), but eventually you don't quite have a recruiting class like last year's, some injuries hit, an underrated position coach leaves for a coordinator/HC job, some key players transfer unexpectedly or declare for the draft a year before you want as a coach and BLAM-O! You have a disappointing season (like USC did this year). The way the Carroll recruits it should only be a temporary blip... unless the NCAA decides the banhammer will strike at midnight.
