Really sad news out of Akron ahead of their game against Ohio, reports are saying a ROTC student commited suicide in stadium and was discovered this morning. Looks like the game will be played as scheduled.
OT:Akron student commits suicide in stadium
That's really sad. I feel bad for his parents and all those who knew him. Horribly sad story.
I had a visit for the game there today that I set up with Coach Mccloud. He actually called my mother and told her about it and my mom and me rescheduled my visit for a latter day. Really sad story.
Shocking and sad. RIP. Thoughts with his family and friends.
Wishes and prayers out to his family and friends.
That's got be crushing to the community.
My deepest sympathies for this young man's family in this troubling time.
interesting article from a parent of a suicide victim. She wrote the letter to her deceased son. It went something like this: "I wont ask why because I will never understand. I will ask why didnt you take your money and enjoy your life before you did it? You always wanted to see Alaska and you had the money, why didnt you at lease enjoy yourself for a while....."
The point is we will never understand what goes through the heads of anyone who is contimplating suicide. It just doesnt make sense to me either.
May God lay His hand upon the hearts and souls of the family and friends of this child.
of my son (who is in high school) committed suicide Thursday evening. Good kid, very nice looking, good student, hard worker. My son found out yesterday and is devastated. We have been in lengthy discussions about life and the "why's" someone does this. Being a retired State Police trooper I have investigated many suicides but this is the first time it has hit this close to home. It's very difficult to try and explain something so difficult to understand yourself.
this is my hometown so this is very sad to hear. kinda stunned they played the game today. see games moved to sundays before and this seems like a good reason.
Research has shown that campus suicides can be (for lack of a better word) contagious, and the more recognition the event gets, the higher the risk that someone else on the fence will copy it. The current thinking is that the campus should carry on as normally as possible after this kind of tragedy. It seems counterintuitive and heartless, but I think you'll find that on many campuses, the responses to suicide are very low-key.
there's no other way. I'm sure the kid's future was way brighter than he thought.
