OT: Wrestlemania 29

Submitted by bronxblue on

I know everyone is understandably geeked about the basketball team, but as a fan of both collegiate athletics and fake fighting between part-time movie stars and guys who dress like dinosaurs, I figured a thread should be set up for the biggest night in sports entertaintment, Wrestlemania 29.  At least when the refs screw up here, we expect it!

The card:

The Rock vs. John Cena
Undertaker vs. CM Punk
Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H
Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger
Team Hell No vs. Dolph Ziggler & Big E. Langston
The Shield vs. Big Show & Randy Orton & Sheamus
Ryback vs. Mark Henry
Chris Jericho vs. Fandango
Tons of Funk & Funkadactyls vs. Rhodes Scholars & Bella Twins
Wade Barrett vs. The Miz

I expect Cena to win the title from the Rock, for Punk to go down to the Undertaker after a good match, Swagger to win the world title, team Ziggles winning the tag title, and Henry and Ryback to HOSS FIGHT through a pretty boring match with (I assume) a Shellshock finish.  Jericho will put over Fandango, the Shield will win with a swerve, Tons of Funk will squash Rhodes Scholars, and the Miz will win whatever secondary title Wade Barrett currently holds (IC title?).  The only result I can't put my finger on is Brock vs. Triple H, though I'm leaning toward Lesnar pulling it out.

Feel free to post your thoughts.

but I think Punk will end Undertaker's streak.  Taker's getting old and this would be the perfect way to put Punk over as one of the biggest, if not the biggest, heel ever.

I am excited for four matches. The Build to The Undertaker and CM Punk, although completely tasteless at times, had been spectacular. Brock Lesner Triple H will be great as well. An of course Cena and Ryback.

Is the Undertaker the same guy who was the undertaker many years ago or do they replace 'the undertaker' with new people, like James Bond?

The smarky fans are everywhere at this event.  My wife and I were at the NY Auto Show this Friday and saw a bunch of people entering Hammerstein's ballroom for the ROH event.  It honestly took over a part of NYC.

Ziggler is absolutely cashing in his money in the bank tonight. They need a heel champ somewhere, and jack swagger is not that guy. Whoever wins the match, Ziggler is definitely taking the belt

This had been an absolute nightmare. I ordered the stream to watch on my computer via WWE.com. 7 minutes into the show the website goes down. I haven't seen anything since they did the Hurricane Sandy tribute thing.

I was really looking forward to the possibility of a couple of "heel turns" last night, and it didn't happen.  Cena would have been perfect, but he means too much to their "child friendly" direction and Make a Wish, so they didn't turn him, even though he had teased it this week.

It would have been a perfect time to turn HBK heel and have him cost HHH the match, leading to them wrestling next year at WM.  This would have been possible because "retirement matches" only result in someone staying "retired" about 20% of the time.

Instead, they jobbed Lesnar out, making Lesnar the highest-paid JTTS in the history of professional wrestling.
