Have the game on mute while listening to the Michigan hockey game. I don't really care who wins. Texas beat the Tigers so I don't want them to be successful, but I hate the Cardinals as well.
October 27th, 2011 at 8:46 PM ^
Going Texas all the way. It was explained to me that the Tigers Cardinals series used to be just as heated as the Michigan Ohio State rivalry so naturally I hate the Cardinals.

Which time? Like, uhh, the 3 times in the last 50 years? I'm a Cardinals fan, and obviously a Michigan fan, and lived in Michigan when the Cardinals won in 2006, and I can't quite get my head around this. From the Cardinals side, and even hearing people talk about 1968, I don't think I'd use the word "heated." Denny McClain was a 30 game winner, Gibson pitched 1, 4 and 7 and lost 7, and then...2006- wasn't much conflict in that series at all that I can recall, so...where is this coming from?
October 27th, 2011 at 9:24 PM ^
Ouch. Napole
October 27th, 2011 at 9:31 PM ^
Yeah, that looked pretty bad, but he seems to be alright.
October 27th, 2011 at 9:32 PM ^
Defense is not going to win tonight's game.
October 27th, 2011 at 9:37 PM ^
You're right about that. Rangers definitely have the upper hand in defense, but both teams have been having problems today. Although I did get a good laugh out of the Matt Holliday bobble.
October 27th, 2011 at 9:43 PM ^
Even bigger laugh with the freeze error.
October 27th, 2011 at 9:42 PM ^
This is a brutal game to watch
October 27th, 2011 at 9:42 PM ^
can kiss my ass. Worthless turd of a human being.
Go Rangers.
October 27th, 2011 at 9:42 PM ^
Another dropped pop-up?!?! Unbelievable. I feel like I'm watching little league..
October 27th, 2011 at 9:54 PM ^
I got St. Louis! Lets go Cards.
October 27th, 2011 at 10:37 PM ^
But I really like the way that Fox does baseball. I also like Joe Buck and Tim McCarver very much.
But ... do Joe Buck and Tim McCarver do St. Louis games during the regular season? Or has that ended? Is this a situation in which the Cardinals' 'home' tv guys are doing the national broadcast?
[edit. - D'oh! Joe Buck hasn't done Cards' home games since '08. Thank you, uh, Wikipedia...]
October 27th, 2011 at 10:55 PM ^
You are the only person alive who likes Joe Buck and Tim McCarver. They are the worst announcing team in sports. I've been a Section 1 disciple for a long time but this revelation has got me seriously thinking.
October 27th, 2011 at 11:15 PM ^
in the attempt to assassinate me after I declared Gus Johnson to be one of the worst announcers in the business.
It's so funny; I seem to be such an outlier in my broadcasting tastes.
October 27th, 2011 at 11:33 PM ^
I don't care for mccarver. I don't mind Buck tho. I enjoyed frankona during the the ALCS. It was nice to have a manager prospective , plus he was not trying to be pc the whole game.
October 27th, 2011 at 10:07 PM ^
I usually root for the AL anyway but I'm pulling for Texas big time simply because I can't stand the Cards.
October 27th, 2011 at 10:34 PM ^
I also can't stand the Cards, but I'm from Dallas too so it''s not a difficult decision. Go Rangers!
October 28th, 2011 at 8:41 AM ^
Go fuck yourself. CARDS!
October 27th, 2011 at 10:09 PM ^
I hate Texas.
October 27th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
Well, Texas hates you.
October 27th, 2011 at 10:13 PM ^
baseball history. This Cardinals team wouldn't have even sniffed the playoffs under the two division format.
October 28th, 2011 at 2:35 AM ^
Thee Tigers wouldn't have made it either though
October 27th, 2011 at 10:14 PM ^
I love St. Louis. Not giving up on them!
October 27th, 2011 at 10:32 PM ^
One of the worst baseball games I have ever seen. So many errors and walking on runs. Hard to watch. But I can't take my eyes off being the potential last game.
October 28th, 2011 at 8:42 AM ^
This wins for "dumbest comment in the thread"
October 27th, 2011 at 10:33 PM ^
That pickoff could have saved the game for Texas
October 27th, 2011 at 10:36 PM ^
Should have scored a run if Holliday didn't get picked off
October 27th, 2011 at 10:50 PM ^
Yeah, that pickoff was huge.
Plus, it took Holliday--a good hitter--out of the game with a "bruised pinky finger".
October 27th, 2011 at 10:46 PM ^
Back to back jacks! Can't stand the Cardinals either.
October 27th, 2011 at 10:53 PM ^
You guys are sick of LaRussa? I live in WI and root for the Brewers, Imagine having to play like 20 games against him every year...And have to lose to him in the NLCS.
October 27th, 2011 at 10:59 PM ^
I'm in Chicago so I know what you mean except for the whole losing to them in the NLCS haha.
October 27th, 2011 at 10:48 PM ^
Back to back homers by Beltre and Cruz!!!
Nelson Cruz's ties Barry Bond's record for home runs in a postseason with 8. Amazing.
October 27th, 2011 at 10:54 PM ^
Series MVP Napoli, Cruz, Beltre?

Right now thinking Napoli hitting .357 with 2 hr and 10 RBI
October 27th, 2011 at 11:02 PM ^
Napoli for sure, he's made too many big plays this series to not deserve it.
October 27th, 2011 at 11:33 PM ^
Yeah I gotta go with Napoli too
October 28th, 2011 at 1:13 AM ^
Right now I'm thinking David Freese. Plays for the other team. You may have seen some of his moves tonight. No big deal.
October 27th, 2011 at 11:04 PM ^
You aren't allowed to say god damn on national tv are you? Because I think fox probably should have aired that clip of Larussa without audio.
October 27th, 2011 at 11:14 PM ^
I feel all alone with the Cards. My Whole family and the blog is against St. Louis. My dad won't let me hear the end of it if they end up losing.
October 27th, 2011 at 11:18 PM ^
Awwwwww, poor guy. It's not looking too good for you.
October 27th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
It's rough when you back the losing team. At least you still have Michigan...
October 27th, 2011 at 11:38 PM ^
You're not alone.
Lifelong Cards fan here who was born and raised in the StL.
It's not looking good for us at this point, but I will have a hard time being too disappointed even if we can't come back because of the great run we have had the past couple months.
At the beginning of Sept we were dead in the water.
Then, to not only make the playoffs but to knock off the Phillies and Brewers on our way to another pennant? Wow!
Losing will always stiing, but the way the Cardinals finished this season has made me as proud as ever to root for that organization.
With that being said, let's get a 9th inning comeback and then win it in 7!!!
Go Cards!
And of course, Go Blue!
October 27th, 2011 at 11:22 PM ^
How cool was that?
I wonder how many on this blog knew whether Stan Musial was still alive?
October 27th, 2011 at 11:31 PM ^
Thought he was dead for sure. Was pleased to see he isn't.
October 27th, 2011 at 11:44 PM ^
The Cards just don't die
October 27th, 2011 at 11:52 PM ^
no pinch runner for Berman .... ????? odd
October 27th, 2011 at 11:55 PM ^
Wow. Let's go to extras.
October 27th, 2011 at 11:59 PM ^
cards can suck it
October 28th, 2011 at 12:01 AM ^
they just did
October 28th, 2011 at 12:25 AM ^
... but then they spit
