OT - World Cup Championship: Germany v. Argentina, 2:00pm CDT, ABC/Univision
Here we go!!! The most complete team versus the team with the best (arguably) player in the world. Both teams play strong defense, and both have offensive firepower. Edge in goalkeeping goes to Germany.
Despite the aforementioned firepower, I think this will be low-scoring, with Germany prevailing 1-0.
Germany has given up four goals in this tournament. One (Brazil) was in total garbage time and another (Algeria) basically was as well (it came in the 120th minute when Algeria was down 2-0). Only Ghana could score on them when it counted - and they did twice. But they didn't get out of the group stage.
I just read that Messi got sick on the field in the first half. I missed it, did the announcers mention it?
Or the fact that Messi gets sick during games quite often caused everyone to just ignore it. It's being reported by the Times.
Apparently the shot of the Christ the Redeemer was to cover up a streaker on the pitch. Lebron took a video of the idiot.
This thing's ending with PKs...no way a goal is getting by either team in the next 15.
It's amazing how empty the streets are during WC games. I saw a timelapse of a Sao Paolo street during a Brazil game and thought it was a still photo at first - no car drove by for several minutes.
I think the only sports event that could do that here is the Super Bowl, and even then I'm not sure.
Argentina and Germany go into full-out attack mode for these last 15 minutes.
Decide this on the field of play, not by a shoot-out a few feet in front of the goalies!
HOLY SHIT
1-0.
LAND!!!!!!
TOUCHDOWN SIEGHAWKS
Another goal by a substitute in extra time. Unbelievable.
Need a miracle kick here...
What happens first? A Lions Super Bowl win or a US World Cup title? I'll hang up and listen.
Since you claim him now, I didn't see anyone leave the championship final due to cramps.
couch potato criticizing the stamina of an athlete alert
As a former football player, I once had cramps in a game. I went back in after 2 plays.
Did anyone care? Besides your mom, I mean.
with a Superbowl win...
Especially since the World Cup is only played once every four years....and it's for your country and not your professional team....
Understandable, especially for guys like Zaboleta and Mascherano who may not be on the national team in 2018
Goetze: just turned 22, very generously listed as 5' 8" and 138 pounds (did you see him next to Schweinsteiger, who is 6' 0"?). The biggest goal of his career at the beginning of his career.
Edit: he was next to Mertesacker, who is 6' 6", but still looked a foot shorter.
Well, Gisele (a Brazilian of German ancestry) should be happy. So Tom Brady should be happy, too. Outcomes that make Michigan greats happy are good.
All of the German players have stunning wives/girlfriends
