that's unfortunate, but at least the interest is there on both sides
OT: Woodson Jersey from 97 but I've never seen this style before?
If you could post a photo of said jersey, it would go a loooong way in getting an accurate answer.
If it's real, it should look like this:
Note that while the numbers and M's are blue, they have a thin maize outline.
Best. Jersey. Ever.
Nike released multiple NCAA throwbacks in approximately 2004, I own the Woodson home jersey that says "97" on the tag and has block M's on the sleeves. The maize on the jersey is from not even close, it's almost orange circa 1980's.
I think you were ripped off, should have came to mgoblog first
However, that style of jersey was never used by Michigan in a game.
just a guess
That's what I was thinking as well. Howver, I don't have a clue what the practice jerseys looked like at that time.
I doubt they had names on them.
In 1997 (and for several years after that), Michigan used up its old stock of the previous away jersey design (80s-90s) for practice jerseys.
I'm pretty sure that's not a practice jersey. It looks pretty cheap, honestly. The practice jerseys were better-quality than that.
walmart wolverine line via 1997.
Nike did some throwback jerseys back in the day and they did a White and Navy Charles Woodson throwback with block Ms on the shoulders. They also did a Braylon Edwards navy throwback jersey and they did a navy Desmond Howard throwback jersey. Here is a listing of a desmond jersey that just ended: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Michigan-Wolverines-Desmond-Howard-Jersey-XL-NEW-/290932786147?pt=US_NCAA_Fan_Shop&hash=item43bcf203e3
So the jersey is legit in terms of Nike making it but obviously not a stlye Michigan ever wore.
It's from Nike's Field General collection. It's a throw back to the jersey he wore here with his name on it.
Except that it has a big Nike logo on the shoulder pad. The jerseys we wore then were made by Russell Athletic and had no logo on them.
Err....is that your twitter?
If so.....some strange tweets.
Yeah, not really.
a Nigerian prince, didn't you?
Sorry. Not sure what that is. I am a Michigan memorabilia nerd. Michigan did not use in 97. Good luck mate. Cheers.
Might be a gas station jersey bro.
Looks a lot like the Michigan basketball practice jerseys now. Minus the block Ms on the shoulder
I've been trying to track down a guy named Per Kjeldsen, who took the offficial photos at Michigan for something like 30 years. Supposedly this man has a collection of a bazillion photos, among which I'm sure there's practice shots from the period you speak of. I walked (actually rollerbladed) by the practice fields a lot in '98 but I seem to remember them wearing the same jerseys they use for games -- blue ones and white with the trim.
Try the dental school, I know he had an office there when I worked in the building ~2007-9. I think he was in charge of the dental radiology lab or something?
