of the last dozen years have been bad.  Really, really bad.  Like, Detroit Lions bad.  Just not for nearly as long, though, as the Lions.  It'll take at least another 40 years of bad to match where the Lions have been, and, unfortunately, the Lions by then will have been bad for 95 years.

To put it into proper perspective for the younger MGoBloggers:  TheDetroit Lions have won 1 NFL Championship in my lifetime, back in 1957 when I was just over a year old.  The Raiders didn't even exist then, but have been to 5 Super Bowls since '67, winning 3 of them.  The Raiders from the '65  thru '85 had ONE losing season over those 21 seasons.  They were as competetive over that stretch, even dominant over most of that stretch, as any team in all of football.  Meanwhile, the Lions continue to be the Lions.

So go ahead, mock the Raiders all you want.  But it wasn't that many years ago that they were every bit the dynasty that the Patriots have been since  Belichick found Tom Brady.

I'll agree that over the last 17 seasons I looked at (1986 thru 2002), the Raiders really were no longer a "Dynasty".  But they did make the playoffs 6 times during that period, the AFC Championship Game 3 times, and the Super Bowl once (a loss to the Bucs in 2002).

7 winning seasons, 5 seasons at exactly .500,  5 seasons below .500, and 6-6 in the post-season from '86 thru '02 compares very favorably over that period to what the Lions did over that same stretch, though.  How does 6 winning seasons, 1 season at .500, and 10 seasons below.500, with a playoff record of 1-6 sound?

Crazy ass pass rush?

Woodley has missed at least three games the last three years.  And has only played a full season twice.  Woodley has also shown that when he doesn't have James Harrison playing opposite him, and Aaron Smith in front of him, to be a pretty meh player.  He gets crushed by OL an awful lot.

Tuck is going had a bit of a resurgence tihs year after two years combining for 9 scaks.

It's far from a slam dunk that they'll have a "crazy ass pass rush".

The Raiders now have to be the official team of MGOBLOG.

Any team that has Woodson and Woodley on it is a team that I will cheer for.
