First, I'd like to thank the two Mgobloggers who donated. I ended up raising over $1300, which scored me third place in the fundraising competition and a real Michigan helmet. Collectively, we raised over $59,000 for the U of M Comprehensive Cancer Center, specifically Patient and Family Support Services.
We took tours of the practice facility, ran drills with all the position coaches (I liked Adam Braithwaite the best, but they were all cool), worked out with Barwis, studied film in the team room with RR, ate lunch with the players, and then played a scrimmage. I ended up sitting with Patrick Omameh and Taylor Lewan, both really great, articulate guys. They also eat amazing amounts of food. Other players milling around were Troy Woolfolk, Kevin Koger, Roy Roundtree, Brendan Gibbons, Ricardo Miller, Michael Schofield and I think I also saw Michael Shaw. Denard showed up at the end to sign autographs. Hilariously, his mom was there and she'd reach around and wipe his forehead with a paper towel (it was freaking hot). He was a great sport and easily the most sought after autograph. I got a picture of his untied shoes.
RR talked a little about Nebraska (thought it was good for the conference), said he hoped they'd have two starting quarterbacks this fall, and also revealed that when he watches game film, he likes to study the crowd in the end zone for fun. We also got to see the recruiting video they show recruits when they visit. A few secrets will remain in the team room.
All in all, a great event.
