OT: woman pulled over because OHIO sticker looks like drug symbol

Jonas-Boggioni and her husband, Giorgio Boggioni, 66, of Plano, Texas, were driving home through Tennessee from Columbus, Ohio, where they had attended a funeral for Jonas-Boggioni's mother.

The two were pulled over a few miles east of Memphis, along I-40, and were greeted by a pair of black SUVs containing officers wearing "body armor and guns," Jonas-Boggioni told Joe Blundo of The Columbus Dispatch.

"What are you doing with a marijuana sticker on your bumper?" one of the officers asked.

Since when is it illegal in ANY state to display a picture of a leaf of marijuana with no other associated paraphenalia? I'm pretty sure many of my gradeschool science textbooks had photos of various drug plants like marijuana and poppies. #DrugsInOurSchools?

For what it's worth, at least this mixup is funny. WHen people mix up a wolverine with a badger, I get pissed.

Yeah, it's a complete joke to watch our rights evaporate, and watch those that are there to protect and serve the people, only protect and serve the system.I see too much of this nonsense , from the LAPD shooting up cars with no provocation to catch a cop killer, to citizens in Illinois that film police officers are being charged with eavesdropping charges.  Police officers were never intended to be revenue generators, but now, I think that is their main purpose.  Policestate is exactly right.

The police would have pulled him over for something completely legal.  They search the car and find a fat  sack of Humbolts finest.  Isn't that Uncontitutional?  I guess the fourth amendment does count as much as the second.

I hope they could get that overturned. If police can support any search and siezure by claiming that ignorance led them to believe something in plain sight was illegal when it was not, that'd give them legal justification to search anything at any time.

Guilty as charged. This was a fairly easy shop job though; the "color picker" tool on gimp made it easy enough to match the background red and the outline yellow, and then it's just a question of finding the right font on Powerpoint. Also a question of finding my freaking Heineken glass so I don't have to drink out of the dang can.

I guess I can see how the mixup could happen.  When I was a kid, I rooted for Ohio State because I thought it was cool that they had marijuana stickers on their helmets.  

Of course, I was 10 and was not a professional law enforcement officer.

with the story, otherwise the officer just opened himself and his department up to a 42 USC 1983 suit, albeit for small damages.   i do think it's rather unusual that a 66 yr old lady was apparently able to so specifically cite the MJ leaf characteristics.   i'm guessing there's some paul harvey 'rest of the story' info out there somewhere.
