SOUTHERN SPEED
7-0 Miami
December 29th, 2009 at 9:44 PM ^
I was going to say "HOW 'BOUT THAT *TEAM SPEED*?" You beat me to it, though. :)
Seriously, Wisconsin is doing better than I thought they would.
December 29th, 2009 at 8:14 PM ^
That pitch back reverse on the return was sick. Hopefully Tolzien and Clay can put something together.
December 29th, 2009 at 8:16 PM ^
what a sad start, wisco
Clay gives them a first down on two runs to start their drive, they need to answer the Canes. not sure if wisco can do anything if they fall behind by 14 or so early on.
December 29th, 2009 at 8:23 PM ^
Wisconsin looking like they can handle 3rd and long...
not.
December 29th, 2009 at 8:23 PM ^
Wisc punter does his best Zoltan impression. Miami pinned at about the 8.
December 29th, 2009 at 8:26 PM ^
but good hold by Wisky on 3rd down.
December 29th, 2009 at 8:30 PM ^
Good answer from the badgers, setup by their defense. It just might be a game after all.
December 29th, 2009 at 8:30 PM ^
Nice bounce outside by Clay.
December 29th, 2009 at 8:34 PM ^
Wisky BLOWING up Miami's oline..wow
December 29th, 2009 at 8:37 PM ^
they are usually extremely fast off the ball and hit HARD.
December 29th, 2009 at 8:56 PM ^
Good game so far. Miami started off hot with that kick return and touchdown. But wiscy responded and seems to be confident. Seems like Wisconsin isn't having a lot of trouble running the ball either, that should be key if the badgers want to win.
December 29th, 2009 at 9:06 PM ^
Wisky DB coverage doing a heck of a job. Its particularly surprising considering Miami's speedy receivers. They have a good game plan so far.
December 29th, 2009 at 9:13 PM ^
Is pretty good. Good Big Ten publicity if they can take this one from Miami

cant handle the cold. Homefield-like advantage for the B10
December 29th, 2009 at 9:39 PM ^
There's something satisfying about the Miami players huddled by a heater in long sleeves, while the Badgers are unfazed by a mid-40s night.
Wisky up by 10 at the half. You go, Badgers. The Big Ten could use some love.
December 29th, 2009 at 9:46 PM ^
It makes you wonder how some of these bowl games would go if they were played at, say, Soldier Field. It would also help if the Big 10 team wasn't constantly playing a higher-rated opponent.
December 29th, 2009 at 10:21 PM ^
Or a playoff game...
December 29th, 2009 at 9:52 PM ^
probably going on ala "You ladies need some ear muffs, too?"
December 29th, 2009 at 9:53 PM ^
It makes me viscerally ill to hope for a Wiscy victory here particularly after watching "The U" this afternoon on TSN (ESPN Canadian version) but for all things Big 10 I guess it is necessary.
December 29th, 2009 at 10:19 PM ^
Delicious, isn't it? I've never seen a more pathetic football display. They should lose on that basis alone. Easterbrook doesn't get much right, but his overdressed coach theory SHOULD be right, even if it isn't, just on principal.
December 29th, 2009 at 9:53 PM ^
Wisco has basically dominated this game (except for the opening kickoff).
Unless Jacory gets going Miami is dunbar.
Although I wouldn't put it past Bielma to do something stupid.
December 29th, 2009 at 9:53 PM ^
Nice first half out of Wisco. Badgers are taking advantage of all the mismatches in their favor: Clay, Badger DL vs Cane OL and too manhy good targets for Miami to cover them all.
Looooong way to go, though. Canes will make a stand.
But if Wisco keeps giving the ball to Clay, they should be able to hold on.
December 29th, 2009 at 9:55 PM ^
I'm not sure what to think of the half time show - slightly disturbing.
December 29th, 2009 at 10:00 PM ^
is killing the Canes on 3rd down
December 29th, 2009 at 10:49 PM ^
Man, you're not kidding. Just happened again on 3rd and 8 after penalty negated big Wisky completion.
December 29th, 2009 at 10:08 PM ^
Are Miami's uniforms new? I haven't seen them before, but then again, I don't think I've watched them play all year. I kind of like the 2-tone numbers, but not the crap on the shoulders
December 29th, 2009 at 10:16 PM ^
Don't understand the connection between feathers and hurricanes. Looks like some of the stuff Oregon has going on.
December 29th, 2009 at 10:31 PM ^
do with Sebastian the Ibis (the sideline mascot).
December 29th, 2009 at 10:27 PM ^
they said at the beginning of the game that they were new uniforms. I have seen that feather display by the shoulders on various teams displaying new uniforms this season.
December 29th, 2009 at 10:42 PM ^
they are the new Nike uniforms like osu had.
December 29th, 2009 at 10:47 PM ^
They are the Nike jerseys they rolled out one week during the regular football season. This is Miami's second time using them.
December 29th, 2009 at 10:19 PM ^
They bore you to tears--and they don't give a shit.
December 29th, 2009 at 10:30 PM ^
These TEs for Wisky are amazing.
December 29th, 2009 at 10:30 PM ^
They run the old style offense we've been told for decades doesn't work vs. high-powered western/southern teams. They don't come up with any gimmicks in the off time. They play up in bowl match ups like everyone else when the B10 gets 2 teams. Sometimes moreso because they travel well and get overdrafted. They're playing in enemy territory, like everybody. They've even switched coaches, so it's not just coaching.
You'd think extra time would make opponents able to scheme for their simplistic plays, but if anything it's like they don't see "real" football enough anymore to play it. Even right now the announcer says "it's unbelievable, you know where he's going with the football, but Miami just can't find a way to stop it".
December 29th, 2009 at 10:35 PM ^
PSU and Iowa do well in bowls, too. A lot of it comes down to priorities in December. Some coaches regard bowls as exhibitions and use the bowl practices mostly as a chance to develop young players. Others focus mostly on the game itself.

Wisky got toasted last year by Florida State 42-13.

Wisc tight ends move the ball. Wow! Grind
some clock and win this thing.
December 29th, 2009 at 10:51 PM ^
Wow, is Wisconsin's punter related to the Space Emperor?
December 29th, 2009 at 10:55 PM ^
that's twice on fourth and 2 that Wisky punted. Grow some nuts and go for it! Score! Win! Geez
December 29th, 2009 at 10:57 PM ^
O-VER-RA-TED!
Go Badgers!
December 29th, 2009 at 10:57 PM ^
has been pretty ineffective aside from a few plays. Can they double their point total for the first 3.5 quarters in 7 minutes? Knock on wood.
December 29th, 2009 at 11:00 PM ^
Review the Michigan's defensive tape from this season - seriously Wisco's MO is power running and the TE - how you can not defend against this is mystifying.
Nessler please do not make a big deal out of this Wisco team - they have not beaten anybody this year.
December 29th, 2009 at 11:05 PM ^
They were one of only six teams to beat MSU!
