OT - Wisconsin-Miami Champs Sports Bowl OPEN THREAD

Submitted by joelrodz on

Miami returns kickoff for TD only to have it called back on a stupid penalty, yet they score on 1st offensive play. Long night for Wisky?

what a sad start, wisco

Clay gives them a first down on two runs to start their drive, they need to answer the Canes. not sure if wisco can do anything if they fall behind by 14 or so early on.

Good game so far. Miami started off hot with that kick return and touchdown. But wiscy responded and seems to be confident. Seems like Wisconsin isn't having a lot of trouble running the ball either, that should be key if the badgers want to win.

There's something satisfying about the Miami players huddled by a heater in long sleeves, while the Badgers are unfazed by a mid-40s night.

Wisky up by 10 at the half. You go, Badgers. The Big Ten could use some love.

Nice first half out of Wisco. Badgers are taking advantage of all the mismatches in their favor: Clay, Badger DL vs Cane OL and too manhy good targets for Miami to cover them all.

Looooong way to go, though. Canes will make a stand.

But if Wisco keeps giving the ball to Clay, they should be able to hold on.

Are Miami's uniforms new? I haven't seen them before, but then again, I don't think I've watched them play all year. I kind of like the 2-tone numbers, but not the crap on the shoulders

They run the old style offense we've been told for decades doesn't work vs. high-powered western/southern teams. They don't come up with any gimmicks in the off time. They play up in bowl match ups like everyone else when the B10 gets 2 teams. Sometimes moreso because they travel well and get overdrafted. They're playing in enemy territory, like everybody. They've even switched coaches, so it's not just coaching.

You'd think extra time would make opponents able to scheme for their simplistic plays, but if anything it's like they don't see "real" football enough anymore to play it. Even right now the announcer says "it's unbelievable, you know where he's going with the football, but Miami just can't find a way to stop it".

Review the Michigan's defensive tape from this season - seriously Wisco's MO is power running and the TE - how you can not defend against this is mystifying.

Nessler please do not make a big deal out of this Wisco team - they have not beaten anybody this year.
