I was checking my recent posts and thought, "I didn't post in that topic..."

Anyway, on point: I see the wings coming back with a storm tonight. 5-1 to win, evening the series coming back to the Joe.

I think Howard will be huge in the first period while the crowd is still really into the game. The Wings will get a goal either late in the first or very early in the second and the crowd will start to die down. Wings get two more before Phx scores and then an empty netter late in the third.

I think the Wings will show their true form tonight, no more of this playing without emotion BS that we saw in game one. I hope someone...cough, cough, Kronwall...lays Doan out after all of those late hits and cheap shots in game one.

Where the hell was the high sticking call for the blast Lidstrom took late in the 3rd. Upper lip must have split completely open by itself. Good to know that all four officials were watching something other than a play on the puck.

I must say

Regardless of anyone's Wings fandom or Yotes fandom, if there are any Yotes fans

I think this series will be the best of the playoffs, not just the first round. These teams are rad dudes

I complain about it because it's completely stupid that people are doing that. The topic of this thread is predictions. I made one. I wouldn't go around and neg anyone who is predicting the Red Wings to win just because I predict otherwise. It's just funny and stupid, at the same time.

Your first post is at -9 right now, meaning approximately nine people who you know nothing about have negged you for reasons known only to themselves. The snarky remark you made right after your initial post is motivation enough to neg you.

Why do you feel it's the people who are "professing to be tolerant" going "apeshit?" I don't recall signing a "Certification of Tolerance" to get an MGoAccount. Don't get your panties in a bunch over things you KNOW will happen and you probably won't get negged as much.

Normally, when I think people are making honest predictions and see that they got negged for it, I'll give them a +, no matter how much I disagree, because I think it's ridiculous. Unfortunately, it's really hard to decipher "tone" via the internet so one has to make it up. Based on some of your other posts, you seem, normally, reasonable and knowledgeable, it just seems like you have a problem with people on this board rooting for the Wings. The University of Michigan is located in Michigan. Most of the students at Michigan, come from Michigan. The Wings are the only hockey team in Michigan, they're also located in Detroit, which is near Ann Arbor, so there are a lot of people at U-M cheering for them. They're also really good, so people who don't have a team, or don't have a team they're OK rooting for, generally cheer for the Wings, especially if they go/went to Michigan and so the Wings are near their adopted hometown. I'm sorry you don't like that Michiganders frequent a board about Michigan and root for their teams, but you should probably get over it. It's that dislike and your frequent protests that a lot of people in Michigan root for the Wings that makes your posts sound "sarcastic with a hint of condescension". If that makes you happy, go for it, it doesn't really bother me. I just though I'd try to explain to you this situation, because you seem very put off by it.

I appreciate the explanation (seriously). You're missing an important piece of context, however. My prediction was an honest prediction. My response (post as the reply) was in response to the normal treatments that such honest predictions or responses (i.e. predictions/responses that Red Wings fans don't like) gets around here. This doesn't just happen to me. It just happens that I'm the one that said something. My frustration about this is because of the treatment that people who make perfectly knowledgeable and accurate assessments that aren't favorable to the Red Wings get around here. It's just not appropriate on a board that isn't a Red Wings board. Obviously, it is a board that has a lot of Red Wings fans, and I can't imagine that anyone would expect that there wouldn't be. The problem is that a lot of people around here act like it is a Red Wings board and if you ever say anything that isn't 100% pro-Red Wings you shouldn't be posting here. Like I said, I made a 100% honest prediction about this game and within a minute it had multiple negs. I added the reply after that.

I don't think honest opinoin should be negged, especially if it is reasonable or has supporting data (away game against a team they just lost to and split the regular season with). Even if it was Red Wings board or if you were making a prediction on MGoBlog that U of M would lose a game, that shouldn't be negged. What's the point of having a prediction thread if the only prediction you are allowed to make is for the win?

That being said, you have been on this board long enough to know this was going to happen.

And, oh yeah, Wings 3-2 in OT

You would have a legitimate complaint. You can't complain about the way users VOTE. You can complain about harassment, but for something like this, get over it. You're being fucking negged. You're not being stalked, harassed, threatened, curb-stomped, or imprisoned. Shoot, nobody even cared enough to respond angrily to your first post.

Like I said, this isn't a unique situation. Don't act like only Red Wings fans are the bad guys here. Tons of people neg fans of opposing teams during games between them and for no other reason than they're fans of the opposing team. If I wore my Wings gear to Pittsburgh, I would not only tolerate, but EXPECT some shit-talking from random people. And deservedly so.

In addition, you're assuming all those negs come from people who have negged you merely for saying something not 100% Red Wings. Could it be that they just think you're flat out wrong?

For the record, this thread is specifically labeled Off Topic for a reason.

The Wings sign Ogie Ogilthorpe to a one game contract.
On the first shift, Ogie tracks down Shane Doan and splits his wig with a BC two-hander.
Ogie gets 5 for fighting and a game misconduct. The cops arrest Ogie for assualt with a deadly weapon.
The Redwings only give up one goal on the 5 minute penalty kill and win the game in regulation: 5-2.
