OT Wings vs Panthers Sunday Afternoon thread

Submitted by Red_Lee on

In the first "Oh that's gotta be an April Fools joke. Oh it's not? /life" move of the day, Babcock scratched Ian White to make room for Kyle Quincey. Yeah, because Ericsson is the staple on this defense, we should raise his contract to 6 mil a year because everyone loves turnovers...

We better win today. We got a game in hand on Nashville and Chicago, but 1 point separates all 3. This should be an exciting end to the season.

Anybody catch the end of the Pens-Flyers game? That was great to see Laviolette standing on the bench, practically in front of Pierre, yelling his head off at Bylesma. Pretty good brawl, wouldn't be surprised to see Rinaldo and Asham get a game suspension.

I honestly wouldn't mind seeing the team drop to 6th. Sure, we'd lose home ice advantage but I'd rather they not play Nashville in the first round. IIRC we didn't beat Nashville once this year.

As bad as Ian White has been the past few games, Kyle Quincey hasn't really been any better.  Shitbox has actually been quite good for us.  Honestly, ever since returning to the Wings Quincey has slowly regressed to the player he was before he traded.  He sure as shit doesn't look like the guy who set career marks with the Kings and Avs.

They just show no signs of life against good teams and always play down against bad teams like Carolina and Columbus.  I fully expect that the Wings are going to lose in the first round.

Now that i say this, they will go on to win the remanider of their games and end up in 4th place and make a deep run this year.

Something's just been off.  Datsyuk hasn't been making the usual wizardry plays.  We haven't been shooting the puck enough.  When we have shot the puck, we rely too much on the point shot (as opposed to getting it low and cycling).  And we aren't skating well at all.

And our power play has been less effective than a buckeye compliance officer.

Good lord this is incredibly frustrating.

Also, we really miss Helm and Eaves.  Those guys are two of our best penalty killers.  Helm regularly got chances on the PK.  With them out, we have to put zetterberg on the ice, wearing him out.

And Helm is also really fast.

Living here in Cleveland I dont get much Wings coverage.  It seems like the last time they were in the national spotlight it was for winning like 236 games in a row at home.  Now they cant seem to beat anybody.

Can somebody tell me exactly what happened?
