hard time watching the NHL anymore due to the amount of powerplays. Every game is basically a special teams contest anymore, and excessive whistles really kills the flow of the game. What do you expect though, when you have a commissioner who doesn't know the first thing about the sport.

I'm with you on the excessive whistles, but the penalties seem like a pretty small portion of that. What annoys the crap out of me are goalies freezing the puck when the puck just drifts towards them for no particular reason. They should be forced to play the puck unless it was a shot on goal.
The game needs tight penalty calling, because teams have been exploiting all of the little defensive tricks that they can use for about 15 years now. Last year's playoffs was a return to the catastrophically bad pre-lockout style.

perfect example of stuff that has no business being called. They ran into each other feet's, how the heck is that a penatly on either player? Dallas also got screwed over as well. Follow-throughs on shots/shoot-ins are not supposed to be four minute penalties. Like I said maybe I am alone here, but 12+ total power plays every game is not my idea of good hockey.
