But walking in on your Dad banging your Mom is not awkward?
I think the situation in Detroit is a good one for Green to try and rebound in. He played his best hockey when the forwards in Washington were responsible for their defensive assignments. He'll be going to a place which that's job 1 among the forwards.
He'll also never have the #1 defensive assignment in Detroit and will get a ton of PP time.
I doubt he gets back to his 08-09 form but I think he could pick the pace back up a bit.
I like them. Green is an upgrade over anyone on the roster on the PP, and Richards can still contribute - think about some of the guys who have been taking a regular shift with the wings the past five years. He can't be worse. If he doesn't play a ton it is probably a good sign about some of the young guys too, so no loss at one year. Now if they could dump Ericsson and Howard...
I like the Richards signing because it adds a smart guy to the middle of the lineup and he played well for Chicago against the Ducks and especially Lightning. This is a vet signing that actually makes sense by Holland.
Green is also relatively low risk at 3 years and is a definite upgrade on the PP. plus he is a righty.
