The diver, the faker, the damn liars
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut them down

Fuck San Jose
Yes, yes. God will cut them down. He will. He really will. That god is always cutting down cheating hockey players. He's so busy cutting down cheating hockey players that he has no time to do other things--like cut down tyrannical despots, cure horrific diseases, or prevent natural disasters. His priorities might seem out of whack, but who are we to question that god guy?
And fuck San Jose.
He's also busy giving us defensive recruits, don't forget.
Monotheism has worked out pretty good for mankind in the long run, but there was always that danger that the One True Lord would turn out to be Canadian.

I told myself after UM-UMD I wasn't watching another OT hockey game again.
I did. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Atleast 4 goals this playoffs that have deflected off of a red wing for a goal, we're killing our goalie.

Every team west of the Mississippi or south of the Mason/Dixon should be contracted or sent to Canada.

I'm glad I'm not a Sharks fan today. I'd be livid if that was my team, win or lose.
Going to bed pissed off
FUCK OVERTIME HOCKEY
Damn.
NHL is a joke. Tally up the penalties in the Canucks Blackhawks series. NHL badly wanted Blackhawks to upset. Gave the Canucks about 10 more penalties throughout the series. Not surprised to see the Wings still having to kill more penalties than they are given power plays.
To believe the Wings didn't get a PP chance after the first period...You mean to tell me the sharks didn't commit a penalty after the first period? Not counting the Pavelski roughing, because it was a coincidental with Howard and could've easily been a no call either way.
Besides going through HD withdrawal, I park the car up 1-0, fire up the computer at the Library, 1-1. Then I move to the dual screen computer to watch it full screen, and still be able to surf and read, and AFTER they kill 4 goddamn minutes of penalties, they give up a goal in OT.
I remember when jhackney posted this video after a tough loss sometime in late 2010. Still describes how dropping the first game of a seven-game series feels. Still, dropping the 1st isn't necessarily death. Are all the games going to be in the Tank?
Really, it's expected. Long layoff, road game, really par for the course. But being up 1-0 it took a great chance for them to put the Sharks on their heels, and make them have a must win or the series is over game (vs. the Wings now having a must win or they're then backs against the wall game), and maybe make this series end faster rather than longer. Damn Chicago and their overtime flop.
And yes, that was my jhackney tribute, since he hasn't been posting much lately (I think he got a job...).
penalties, the Wings did play not well enough. Need to play alot better in game 2. Howard was fantastic, definatly an undeserving end for him.
Still the amount of penalities called on the Wings in 6 games aganst San Jose including last years series is ridiculous, for a team that is one of the least penalized during the season. I just can't stand the way San Jose acts/embelleshments every time they get touched. Are they ever going to get called for an unsportsmanlike/diving penalty for that bullshit?
The Red Wings didn't play that well unfortunately. Just got out-played. Hopefully we come up with a better effort Sunday.
But we can still get a split. And maybe the next refs won't be so credulous.
SJ now has 32 PP's in last years series and this game, to the Wings 17 PP's. I think the Wings need to fight fire with fire, and start embelleshing/diving like crazy as well. Clearly it is working for the Sharks.
Of course the bottom line is that the Wings do need to play better than this game, but man that kind of difference in PP's is hard to overcome, against a very good team like SJ. The Wings need to spend more time in the offensive zone than they did in this one, that is for sure.
out a victory?! THAT IS PLAIN RIDICULOUS! We looked so strong in the 1st and the quick one from Nik I swear was going to give us some major momentum and things jsut seemed to slide like we were playing not to lose instead of win! I saw so MANY chances for us to take the lead but it's pretty hard to do so when your being dominated 2-3 minutes in your own neutral zone when trying to get a forecheck going! Howard is the reason the Wings really had any chance tonight! I expect a big turn around for game 2 on Sunday! We can not leave SJ and go into Detroit down 0-2. We need a split. Still a lot of series to be played and I thought we did look solid on the PK for that 4 min major. Eaves call was pure bull shit though. Here's to a series tie tomorrow afternoon! GO WINGS!
Benn Ferriero in your face!!! this is just the start of a long war, Go SHARKS!!!
Do it without a high-sticking goal and 80 BS Penalties and maybe it'll be impressive
Eat a dick. The sharks got lucky.
Do it without bettman's foot soldiers calling bs penalties for your diving out there. Your team is a bunch of prima Donna thugs.
sharks are a flop of a team that will never win anything
play. So inconsistent. BS gets called then they let real calls slide.
if you look at last year's series, the refs are very consistent. It's complete bullshit, but it's consistent.
Not pleased to learn the Wings lost. Again, stupid West Coast hockey ends at like 1 AM EST.
Hopefully they can pull one out in this series, or make it competitive. They've had plenty of rest, unlike last year.
Game 1 doesn't dictate a series. Games 2-4 do. Dumb penalties and flopping aside (those aren't going to change much...Wings just got to be smarter I guess), this years series already feels completely different from last years. Why? All those shots and only 2 goals to show for it.
Look, the Wings were outplayed, but that was kinda expected in game 1 after a long layoff. They need to refocus and control the puck better in game 2. More pressure on Niemi. If Detroit is at a 20-shot disadvantage at the end of game 2, i will be seriously worried...but I doubt that will happen again. Detroit is too good to play like that for more than a game...it would have been an undeserved stolen game if they had won last night. Would have been nice, but Detroit shouldn't have to steal any games to win a series.
Onto Sunday. I think Detroit will have more jump than SJ tomorrow. Go WIngs.
