OT - Why we should love the M-Den

Submitted by SpreadGuru on

I was in Ann Arbor yesterday and decided to visit the M-Den on State Street.  I hoped to find some of last year's sideline gear still available in my size.  Walking with my family to the store, we went past the Michigan Book & Supply.  They had some really cool Adidas sweatshirts with Michigan Football on them that I had not seen all of last year.  The M-Den didn't have any of them but I didn't really need a sweatshirt on July 5 anyway.

The difference:  The M-Den had a lot of the Adidas gear (Football that is) on sale because they (and I) know that in three weeks, Adidas will ship the 2010 Football stuff.  I ended up getting a home jersey (Replica Tackle Twill) #4 for $50.  I had previously purchased a lot of the coaches gear in February for $30, which is about 40-50% off.

For giggles, I went back to the Michigan B&S to find that every piece of Adidas gear they had was full price.

I walked out and thought, "God I love the M-Den.  They treat the real fan they way they should be treated.  Only 59 days until UConn...and yes, the workers at the M-Den would know that too!

Going to M-Den and grabbing the new season gear is my favorite July pastime.  It just feels like pure Michigan in that store, and I love the big framed photo section they have in the State Street store.

The M-Den locations are absolute must-visits during Art Fair.  They usually have random smatterings of cool stuff coming out of the woodwork at firesale prices.

Moe's used to be the exact same way, not sure if that will continue with UGP on board. Picked up a stack of Nike block-M Rose Bowl hats one year for 5 bucks each.  My favorite M hat for sure, now I have spares!

Because it's not on clearance, it's on get rid of it pricing.  If you get there early enough, and can find the sizes, you're playing dollars for student t-shirts and such, ten bucks for old numbered jerseys, and all sorts of other stuff, just because it's going to be "out of date" in a few weeks.

I got an away tackle twill #2 jersey last year around this time for the same price. Have to love their deals. For me no trip to Ann Arbor is complete without a stop in the State Street store.

I even got a Spartan alum to see the greatness that is M Den.  We stopped in trying to find gifts for my family, and he ended up getting Xmas gifts for his brother, sister-in-law, and little sister.  Even a jersey for himself.

Luckily, they only had M boxes!

We need to come up with reasons to love the M-Den?  They sell Michigan paraphenalia, what other reason is needed?

That said, the July clearance sales are the best.  I will making my trek out to the store in Livonia soon.

But I feel ya.  I wondered if it was just me, but when I'd swing in there, I'd find less stuff that I'd just have to have.  And I used to ALWAYS be able to go in there and find some trinket that was cool, or a T-Shirt cooler than everyone else's.

Don't get me wrong, they still carry tons of great stuff.  But that used to be almost the only store I'd get things at.

Hey guys, I have worked with UGP for years and just started working for them at Moe's/UGP and just wanted to make sure you guys stop by soon, I have heard similar points in the past about Moe's getting a little outdated and just wanted to tell you that won't happen again.  We are currently in the process of liquidating alot of older apparel/gear to get ready for all the new "hot" arrivals which we have already started getting in.  Good news about this is we have a bunch of merchandise we are practically giving away for $5, mostly on racks outside the store during business hours, sizes are limited and instore sales only for this gear so if you are in town check it out.  We are also seriously committed to keeping the tradition and "feel" of Moe's and to restore any luster that may have worn off.  Also any suggestions or recommendations be sure to let me know.  Also if you are not already check us out on Facebook and Twitter because we will be running a bunch of discounts/giveaways this fall!
