OT: Who do you like Rampage or Evans?

Submitted by Suavdaddy on

This is going to be quite the entertaining fight.  Great build up.  It seems that Evans is in super condition.  That is a huge plus.  Plus Evans is a super wrestler.  That being said, Rampage hits like a sledgehammer.  The knock is that Rmapage has focus issues.  I do't see that this time.  Not to mention he's crazy.  I go with crazy every time.  Rampage by KO.

I hope they both knock each other out at the same time.

But honestly I see tonight's fight between Evans and Jackson being a fantastic match up.  Both fighters are entertaining and if the fight does not go into the three round I will be disappointed.  But if it ends early, it better be by a great KO.  My pick is Evans by KO.

I think Rashad kills him. Rampage has (in addition to an awesome name btw) focus issues. He hasn't fought in over a year and wasn't training much during that year. He's coming off a movie shoot and before that a coach on TUF. He's rusty and Evans catches him with a counter punch a la the Liddell fight.

Those are definitely all the issues with Rampage.  But Rashad has a mediocre (at best) chin, shoots from WAY too far outside, has less power, and is probably not as good a wrestler (it's close).  I wouldn't bet money on this one, but I think Rampage will take it.  When in doubt, go with the more talented guy.

Should be a great one either way.

is gonna destroy Rafraud.

Rashad is one of the most overrated fighters in the game right now.  Don't get me wrong, the guy is a good fighter, but he is not the elite fighter people make him out to be.

Rampage has a better chin, is much stronger, has much better boxing, and his wrestling is on par with Evans's.

The only way Rashad can win is a decision in which he does a Jon Fitch impression and lays on Rampage for 3 rounds.

Last time Rampage fought a guy he hated, he KTFO'd Wanderlie.  I see this fight ending in a similar fashion.

Evans has some stopping power (he knocked out Liddell and effectively knocked out Griffin for the title), but Rampage is a whole different animal when it comes to power.  I expect Rampage to come out firing early, but if Evans can survive the early barrage Rampage will probably tire a bit and Evans might win a decision.  It will be a great fight either way.

I don't do cocky, not a fan.  One of my favorite knockouts came courtesy of Machida on Rashad.  Would love to see the old Evans wobbly legs again tonight.

KO round one. Rashad is the better athlete and could take the fight if he plays it smart and uses his wrestling. That said, I think with all the hate between the two they end up throwing blows early. Much like W.Silva , Rashad will find out thats not the way to fight Rampage Jackson. One less Spartan to hear running his big mouth.

Rampage will knock rashad out in the first round. The only way rashad wins is if they wrestle but if rashad tries to box he'll get destroyed. Another sparten who gets demolished tonight.

My sense was that Jackson gassed after cracking Rashad in the 3rd; in watching the dvr it looks like that was all he had left.

This said, Rashad did way to much running in that fight; there is a difference between skillfully avoiding punishment and running from potential harm (see Round 2). Rashad caught him in round 1 but after that I was pretty non-plussed with his mostly measured performance designed to eke out the decision but nothing more.

I am not filled with anticipation for an Evans/Shogun title fight; I doubt this performance did anything to make fight fans much interested in buying that (or borrowing it via internet).

Just saying.

That was the only way for Evans to win the fight.  He worked his game plan  and won a ugly decision.  This was almost exactly like the Thiago Silva fight; control rounds 1 and 2 then survive round 3.

Evans will not reach elite status until he can finish these kinds of fights.  He is lucky that Rampage was gassed, if not Rashad would have been KO'd when he was down on the ground in round 3.

Shogun has great Cardio and looked fine after his 5 round fight with Machida.

Shogun has very unrated BBJ, if Rashad can somehow take him down, Shogun can work on submissions and should be able to get up with ease.

If Rashad tries to stand and trade with Shogun he is gonna get put to sleep.

MMA fanboi is a total bag of douche. I was following the sherdog liveblog and it seemed like the only reason anyone wanted Evans to win was because Rampage was in a movie....like it was some huge disrespect to the sport to capitalize on an opportunity to make money. Of course the liveblogger threw in some shots of his own. Fuck MMA guy.

but I don't see how anyone could root for Evans.  His fights are terribly boring and the guy is a jerk.

Rampage is known for exciting fights and has been a fan fave since the pride days.

If anything, Rampage doing the movie is good for the UFC, since the popularity film will create more interest in the UFC.

Everyone that called for Rashad, way to go.  Looks like another UFC fight...Jackson just didnt budget his energy well enough.(not that he looked good early on)

i thought it was a pretty good card overall. the main event didnt surprise me, everyone who has seen both rashad and rampage fight should have known that rashad was just talking shit with the whole "im gonna knock rampage out, so i got him a snuggie" crap. kind of disappointing that rashad just couture'd rampage but it was bound to happen. rashad is friggin FAST too. i was really hoping that rampage could catch rashad on his way in but that never really happened. jason brilz really got screwed. the only way i can argue for lil nog was to say that he had some absolutely beautiful sweeps and he controlled the fight wen it was standing. i just dont see that as a viable argument, but it might have played a factor. plus lil nog sells more tickets than white guy from nebraska. the russow knockout was IN-FUCKING-SANE. i have never seen a comeback like that in my life. he was getting destroyed the entire fight, to the point that i was expecting a knockout/TKO any moment. he landed maybe 5 solid punches in the entire fight(guesstimation)and one just caught and knocked him out. that fight was CRAZY. bisping looked solid in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. im really surprised dan miller just tried to stand with bisping, i would have given bisping a distinct advantage in stand up. kinda shakey first round by bisping, he didnt really dominate the way i expected to. 2nd and 3rd he settled in and landed some nice shots.

I went to a B-Dubs in MI and the bar was mainly in support for Rampage, except for a couple of people, including a table with a Sparty/Laker douche.  Reason I called him a douche, he was wearing a Kobe jersey, when the Lakers won, he stood up, clapped, pointed at the TV, clapped, pointed at the TV, clapped, and sat down.  He was the only person in the bar doing this.  Then during every fight he let it be know which figher he wanted to win by being the only person in the bar clapping really loud when his fighter was announced and then again if he won.  He was the first person I physically wanted to punch while in a bar.  I'm 26.  I've been to many, many bars.

Anyways...

Did Rashad win?  Yes, but that included 2 rounds of him doing nothing but holding Rampage against the fence.  Rashad was scared during that whole fight and it showed.

The Nog/Brilz fight.  I don't really remember it that much.  I saw Brilz try a guillotine choke for like 2 mins and then another one after that.  It seemed like a pretty even fight, but again I don't remember it.  Someone actually told me it was BS right after it and I said "I don't know, I don't remember the fight."  Haha.

Russow/Duffee...  If you think that KO was insane, watch the Cung Le/Scott Smith fight.
