OT: Who is the best Spider-Man?

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on
Tobey McGuire. Period. Aside from the evil dancing in 3, he was the best.

Tom Holland by far gets the actual character down and will grow into the sarcastic hero we all love from the comics if Marvel follows through with their post-Avengers plan.

Tobey was good in 1 and 2, but his portrayal of Spider-Man was not that accurate.

That being said, I still think Spider-Man 2 is the best movie followed by Homecoming.

Holland is a quality and believeable teen Parker/Spiderman.  Read in a review that if John Hughes made a Spiderman movie, it would've been Homecoming, spot on.  Funny, silly, true-to-teenhood and coming of age instead of the triumphal proto-god schlock Hollywood serves up in Thor, Superman, and Affleck's Batman.

Avoids the triumphal slaughterhouse of Dead Pool and Guardians Deux, even mocks it when his spidersuit keeps defaulting to "kill mode" and Parker has to turn it off.

The looping to other movies (harvesting alien energy sources, the fight scene from Avengers) is done well and fun, seemless.  Reminded me of Rosencrantz and Guilderstein are Dead, didn't feel like a cross-plug for other films.

Movie was subtle enough to only reveal quirky MJ late in the film.

Marisa Tomei is a great Aunt Mae, exhibiting edgy deep hurt, MILF'y humor, and warm affection for Peter.

Parker lives in an authentic multicultural world (although rarefied economic strata mostly).  Non-caucasoids didn't feel like token nods.

Great pacing, great music, and my fourteen and ten year-old daughters found it hilarious.  Dad agreed.

Only neg, less Ironman please.  Downey's smarmy take is amusing and quite good, but too heavy in Parker's film.

Tobey was decidedly meh as Peter Parker way too stoic). Considering Liefeld's Deadpool was heavily influenced, shall we say, by Spiderman, I was anticipating a similar personality (especially when talking trash; for example, when he thumped Titania in Secret Wars #8) - save Peter Parker's wisecracks stop at PG, whereas Wade's gallops into XXX territory.

in a Tim Burton directed movie called Superman Lives. The project was scrapped because the studio thought it would be another flop, in a long line of flops, for the studio.

By your standard of course. Are you attacking every OT post equally or does the stick up your butt only cause you pain when it comes to WD? look... I don't come to this board to read about the best Spider-Man, just as I don't come to read about the majority of off season garbage... but the ridiculous topics are nothing compared to the bitch ass whining. get over it.
