OT- where are you watching World Cup
My own room. The Big Ten Tournament killed the bar funds. At least the bartendress gave me one on the house right as Michigan lost the lead.
Ditto, but I'll be with the kids.
The Cheetah. Just kidding...sorta. I did a quick google search and The Rose and Crown Soccer Pub should be what you're looking for.
Fado in Buckhead might be a cool place to go. I love that place for Trivia (on Wed. night?)
There are also your standard ESPN Zone, Buffalo Wild Wings, Fox and Hounds. You could also just go to Taco Mac or somewhere in the Highlands (or Little 5 points!)
I live in NYC, and I think a major pub to watch a soccer match is Nevada Smith's.
I am watching the USA-England game at Dupont Circle in DC. For anyone else in the DC area that is interested they are putting up two big screens and showing all three games on that Saturday. The first game, South Korea v Greece, kicks off at 7:30 am and the US game starts at 2:30.
Details:
I'm secretly rooting for Greece. My mom's side of the family is 50% Greek and that country has had a rough two years with their political struggle with all of the riots and violent protests in the streets of Athens. It would be nice to see a ray of hope over the nation in an event that emphasizes peace and brotherhood in the world through sport. I do hope though that the US can go the distance but I'm backing Greece if the US should be knocked out.
As if I needed another reason to hate you... Greece plays the most mind numbeningly boring football in the universe. I'd rather let Fernando Torres dropkick me in the balls 500 times than watch one minute of those fucks pass the ball around their own half of the field for 90 minutes.
Are people of my family's race, pal...
If you was hangin' from a cliff, gettin' ready to fall to your death and Bush was at the top of the cliff, and all you needed was a fuck to save your life, and Bush had a pocket full of fucks...he wouldn't give you one. "Hey, Bush, I need a fuck!" "Ohh, you know I don't give a fuck.
when did "Greek" become a race?
Since Greeks are shit out at birth, I believe this qualifies them for their own race designation. Possibly a different species altogether.
Let the negbombing commence.
I don't think you can fault someone for rooting for his ancestral country. Frankly, I find that a better rationale than rooting for a team based on its style of play.
The soon-to-be wife hates soccer, i admit i don't watch unless it is the World Cup or UEFA Championship. Therefore, i have been kicked out to my Man Cave. Maybe head out for the Semi-Finals and Final though.
I'm going to be in New Orleans for a bachelor party. Any good recs on a place to watch USA / England?
Cooter Browns in Uptown is where we watch(ed) all the UM games. they'll likely have it on the big screen with a reasonably rowdy crowd.
If you're in Pittsburgh, I would recommend Piper's Pub on Carson (if you can get in). It's probably the best soccer bar in the city. It's liable to be packed real early, especially on the 12th (a big English contingent will likely be in there).
I'll be in South Africa catching a game at the stadium in Cape Town. /thread
...cold beer, a big TV/computer screen, and...

there's a variety of downloadable calendars for things like Outlook and iCal with all the games
I live in Louisville, KY but I will be driving up to my hometown of Battle Creek, MI to follow through with a tradition since 02. My dad, soccer friends and myself at Arcadia Brewry. Anglers Ale and a hopeful Mexico victory in the opening match.
Most probably at home. If I can find a pub with a good atmosphere, I'll check it out... but watching sports in a bar isn't really my scene.
Here's an article on soccer pubs in the US. I have been to Ginger's Ale House and its pretty rowdy on game days.

O'callahan's irish pub in downtown plymouth, MI. they always have soccer on the tube unless the wings are playing.. priorities doncha know.
There are American and English bars around the city, I'll bounce around until I find the one I like the most. Top choice so far is Hollywood in Itaewon, if that means anything to anyone.
And I haven't seen it yet, but supposedly there's a 600" screen outside somewhere in Seoul that will be broadcasting the games in 3D, I'm hoping to check that out too
99% of my watching and 92% of my info regarding the world cup, will come from this blog, so please post some nice highlights and stuff.
Watching All U.S. games at Fado or Dark Horse in Philly. Taking off work to watch the Slovenia game.
Just found this site. Can't vouch for it, but it may at least be a start for some people.
Conor O'Neill's
It's the best place to watch soccer in AA.
