OT: Where is Ace?
Just wondering if I am missing something...
No weekly update and no posts really except for 2013 interviews.... No ND wrap up with recruit reactions or anything... and posts by other members in a forum topic for a weekly recruiting update.
Are we switching to a bi-weekly update?
Confused. Still Buckled Up. Really have to pee...

Probably somewhere in Michigan.
Just give him time to get settled.

Are you trying to get banned? Didn't you see profitgoblue's thread earlier about outing MGoUsers' personal information?

food shopping at meijer. he was going to go to kroger, but he needed gas too.
September 19th, 2011 at 5:01 PM ^
Kroger has gas now.
September 19th, 2011 at 6:00 PM ^
Koger not Kroger.
September 19th, 2011 at 6:29 PM ^
maybe he likes the meat section at meijer better.

I second this notion. There probably isn't a lot of news out there but I feel like we are out of the loop.
September 19th, 2011 at 4:53 PM ^
I really didn't need to post that twice...
September 19th, 2011 at 4:59 PM ^
You thirded it as well (sorry, but it was a meatball, had to take a swing)
September 19th, 2011 at 4:59 PM ^
What's everybody looking at?
September 19th, 2011 at 5:01 PM ^
is this titled OT?
September 19th, 2011 at 5:06 PM ^
It probably wouldn't sting but for the many TomVH twitter links to paid content.

I've heard that buying ESPN the Magazine for a year is the best way to get insider access to Wolverine Nation. Anybody know the cheapest way to get the magazine? Are they like Sports Illustrated, with numerous deals out there?
September 19th, 2011 at 6:40 PM ^
It works - great price! I just hope it's legit and my next credit card statement is not maxed out by some yahoo in China on the other end of that site.
*fingers crossed*
September 19th, 2011 at 7:21 PM ^
Wow, great deal. Thanks for posting that. I hadn't planned on getting insider but for that price how can I afford NOT to?
Also, you can pay with paypal which will offer a little more security for anyone leery about giving out their credit card information.
September 19th, 2011 at 9:10 PM ^
Thanks for that. what a deal.
September 19th, 2011 at 5:52 PM ^
I've gotten good deals on magazine subscriptions from them in the past. Like $40 for the year or something. Might be worth looking into.

I'm right here.
But yes, I'm working on building enough recruiting contacts so that a weekly (or bi-weekly) update is feasible, but right now that just isn't the case - it took Tom years to build that up, and I'm a month into the gig. Not trying to make excuses, just being realistic. You can trust me (or not, I guess that's your choice) when I say that I'm doing a LOT of work to catch up.
The reason I don't post weekly recruiting wrapups on the board right now is that pretty much all of that stuff is culled from premium sites, and I'm here to do original reporting. The Thursday Recruitin' posts are my way of keeping you all updated, and I'm happy to listen to any suggestions about how to improve those -- this is why I make sure my email and twitter handle are on every post, and even if I don't respond to each individual message, know that I'm at least reading everything that comes my way.
In addition to the Creeper Van Originals, Weekday Warriors, and Thursday Recruitin' posts, as well as doing the podcast each Sunday, I'm going to start (hopefully this week, if a torrent becomes available) breaking down each week's opponent on Wednesdays, complete with film and everything. When basketball and hockey season come around, there's a good chance I'll be writing about those sports as well.
So, yeah, I'm here. I might not be breaking recruiting news as much as you all (or me, either) would like, but I fully expect that to change over time, and in the interim I'm doing all I can to build up connections and contribute as much as I can to the site.

Your doing fine some of us are slightly (OK more than slightly) addicted to the recruiting updates. We know it takes time to build rapport with the recruits.
Keep up the good work
September 19th, 2011 at 5:17 PM ^
You're doing fine. This is a transition year, just like the new coaching staff.
September 19th, 2011 at 6:15 PM ^
wasnt trying to get on your case and stuff, just was wonderng what was happening. If you would just toss us a post and be like"hey im still figuring shit out" i wouldnt care in the least.
September 19th, 2011 at 7:42 PM ^
I learned a long time ago that when you have a job to do and it involves dealing with many different factions it's best to do it your way. You know you can't please everyone. Keep up the good effort. Thanks. Looking forward to your updates when they come.
September 20th, 2011 at 8:21 AM ^
You've done a great job so far, Ace. Thanks for all you do. I've especially enjoyed the MgoCreeper Van content.
Keep up the good work!

I figured he was investigating new developments in the ongoing Craig James meme.
September 19th, 2011 at 5:36 PM ^
When I saw this post, it was rated at a 1 for overrated. I think the Grover pic is kind of funny, and hit moderate on funny. However, it dinged Clarkie up to 2 for overrated. Kind of a little flaw in the system. Not a big deal, but something that might be fixable.
Don't worry, Clarkie, you and Grover are still good with me . . . .
September 19th, 2011 at 5:59 PM ^
What's in the box?!
September 19th, 2011 at 6:30 PM ^
That's great
September 19th, 2011 at 6:32 PM ^
SMU is just not a place to work a corner, with Craig James and Grover hanging around. Maybe it's safer on the other side of the Metroplex at TCU.
September 19th, 2011 at 5:15 PM ^
I think Ace is doing a good job so far. He has been at this since right before the season started, since then a lot of Hoke's recruiting has died down. Additionally, our 2012 class is mostly wrapped up sans big-time prospects we're still recruiting and 2013 is still slow.
We have to temper expectations and remember that even the mighty TomVH wasn't posting 3- and 4-recruiting updates a day even when it seemed like recruits were dropping like flies in March through August. He also had several years of building recruiting contacts and was a ninja with expertly-timed "say something without saying anything" comments in threads.
I'm happy for Tom and think Ace will keep the recruiting bar high here.

I think it would be a lot different around here if we had 8 commitments instead of 22. Not too much to catch up on.

September 19th, 2011 at 5:42 PM ^
dude just posted creeper van updates from this weekend. i think the games were actually on sunday, not friday night. there was the michigan game saturday, which was probably more interesting than it should have been. ace is now taking over for tim doing podcasts with brian. oh, also, having a life outside the site, which, i don't, but i suppose some people want to.
and its FREE!
and there is nothing going on
and if there were, Ace would tell us.
STFU
September 19th, 2011 at 5:42 PM ^
Doing a great job Ace...Ignore the highschoolers who want everything now...
September 19th, 2011 at 5:35 PM ^
Ace is going to be rocking with recruit updates. He is building is repoire now with the 2013 classes by meeting many of them in person and doing phone interviews as well.
It's unreasonable to expect that he will have that kind of connection with 2012 guys yet to commit as I'm sure it takes a good while to build those contacts and more importantly build trust with the recruits.
September 19th, 2011 at 5:39 PM ^
Hang in there, Ace. Those contacts will form, and most people here understand that you're on the job and doing what you can do to bring us the quality info we love so much.
I like what you're doing so far, as do many others. Keep on doin what you are and good things will happen . . .
September 19th, 2011 at 5:44 PM ^
Well, maybe he went to get a sideways haircut
Maybe he went to get a striped shirt
Maybe he went to get some plastic shoes
Maybe he went to get some funny sunglasses
Well, maybe he went to get an Air Force parka
Maybe he went to get a Vespa scooter
Maybe he went to get a British flag
Maybe he went to go Mod Ska dancing
Well, maybe he went to get a mohawk
And maybe he went to get some gnarly thrash boots
Maybe he went to go ride his skateboard
Maybe he went to see the Circle Jerks

I am surprised and relieved at the lack of "Carmen Sandiego" references . . . .

How do you expect him to notice he's needed without the signal.

<br>I mean, does Commissioner Gordon just still around his office asking his cops "where has Batman been lately?"
