OT: What is your secret favorite cheesy song?

Submitted by wolverine1987 on

So everyone, no matter how sophisticated their musical taste, has that one song that you may possibly be embarrassed to have your friends discover in your iPod. That artist that may not have not much critical respect that has a song that you just love every time you hear it. Current or past, everyone has one.  In my case I have several, but I'll offer one to start: Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield. What's yours? The internet is offering you anonymity...

QVIST's avatar reminded me that perhaps the cheesiest songs I know are from the Space Ghost Musical Barbecue.  Most people wouldn't give it 5 minutes before turning it off yet it's a cult classic with my family.

One time, I hired a monkey to take notes for me in class........

Since I'm an 80's kid and still love the music from that era, there are plenty that would make my list. "Don't Talk To Strangers" by Rick Springfield, anything by Hall and Oates, and "The Look Of Love" by ABC. From this era, "Love Game" from Gaga is just so hyptnotic to me.

You can't get any cheesier than Canadians (not the hockey players) trying to rock out. Anything by Loverboy (the name? Pure D Velveeta) not only gives me goosebumps and makes me think I might be gay, but it's the cheesiest shit ever.

Though in my book, these guys are actually still cool because they were on the New Jack City soundtrack AND did a guest spot on 90210. You don't get more badass than that.

And if you are trying to romance the ladies, there is really no better choice than this one.

and when the comment/reply box comes up, hit the "source" button. It will light up bluish, paste the code in the comment box. Then hit the "source" button again and you should see a flash logo. then just hit save.

The song itself probably isn't cheesy enough, but my non-stop shit-faced rendition of it while tailgating at the 2007 Rose Bowl deserves strong consideration. Sadly there is no video of my performance, but from the looks on the faces of the various lovely latinas who passed by our car, it was the ultimate in cheesy-song awesomeness.

My cheesy song is "Breakfast at Tiffany's" by Deep Blue Something.  I will turn in my man card first thing Monday morning.

I shit you not, I did a fist pump when I read the first two you posted. Fuck yes, Quiet Riot and Twisted Sister. "We're not gonna take it" was my favorite song when I was about 5 when it came out. I can remember my sister and I getting a quarter, putting it on a jukebox at a bowling alley, and proceeding to run around and climb on tables and booths, dancing to the song and screaming that we were not, in fact, going to take it anymore. This may have pissed off some employees.

My dad was bowling at the time. Solid parenting, that.
