Kelly Clarkson... anything she's ever recorded.
OT: What is your secret favorite cheesy song?
I couldn't remember what he said in that scene
I know he once said, "I love lamp! and Loud noises."
Gets me every time. My girlfriend thinks I'm a nancyboy for liking this song. Screw her!
my (now ex-)wife to have this played at our wedding. That was a no, for some reason.
this song takes me all the way back to 1990. I would agree, cheesy.
This thread is ova...
insult miley like that ....
chessy? hell no
this is the chessiest video. It could be considered somewhat cheesy as well.
Hahaha! Nice! A few of my friends discovered this song in high school and I ended up hearing it hundreds of times.
But it did inspire/remind me of this-
How about the Miley/Biggie mash up.
This was my answer before I saw it posted, nice work.... As well as that JoJo girl with "too little too late"
damn it you toook my idea
Anything by Weird Al
He may be cheesy, but he is a legend
on MGoBlog. jessie's girl lol...Not a secret I hide from my friends. Extreme 'More Than Words" if I remember correctly thats just saying you have to sleep with me to prove you love me. Miley Cyrus is a whore...sorry. Weird Al was somewhat acceptable in the 90's, ok not at all actually. My SUPER SECRET song would probably be Air Supply "All Out of Love". I'm going to go hide for the next month until everyone forgets.
So I'm all about the cheese. But lately, the one I can't get out of my head, thanks to this damn game-
Or for the purest out there-
It doesn't get any cheesier than Erasure.
There is nothing wrong with Erasure. Case in point:
And I am not embarrassed at all to say that I love this song:
I raise you-
Though I confess, the reaction of women at the dance club and acapella show might have skewed my memory of them.
And Tears for Fears had some great stuff, even beyond Shout and Everybody Wants to Rule the World....
Not to be all "haters gonna hate," but I had heard of Erasure, yet didn't know of a single song. Now I know why!
I do know When in Rome from a movie or something, though.
(And I don't think you're a hater..I thought it was pretty damn funny).
I prefer the Gary Jules version
and I perfer tears for fears
holy cow this has been a tab in my firefox for a week or two now. I guess my secret is I like New Wave and this song is the shit.
This song gets me every time. I remember my brother putting it on the juke box at the bar to embarrass me. It worked (our dart game had to be put on hold until the song ended).
Wow. I managed to watch that whole thing.
yeah - me too. i find myself oddly attracted to Lady Gaga despite having a major preference for dark haired/dark skinned women.
that she's kinda homely either--IME
I just read an article on her in Rolling Stone, and when she was in high school, she was pretty. She's Italian, so she naturally had the dark look. I would take the pre-Gaga look any day of the week.
To be with you by Mr. Big and More than words by Extreme
"To Be With You" is my favorite cheesiest song and is also my karaoke song. Good pick!
I had to test the waters a bit before posting this one. But since we're letting it all hang out
Hey, the Bangles are great.
But Prince wrote music for them (Manic Monday), so they couldn't be all cheesy. Now, Walk Like an Egyptian...
Any of Journey's love songs. Particularly Faithfully. Thats some powerful stuff right there.
Don't Judge me.
Best.Song.Ever. But why did he shave the stache? Should have left it and went with a jean shirt, jeans, and a jean jacket.
but none will top ....
She's So High by Tal Bachman
One of my other choices would be Rita Coolidge's You're So Vain.
I like Alanis Morisette's You Oughta Know, too, although I can't stand anything else she's ever done.
this is one of my cheesy favorites, not the original version of it. You get the idea though.
Well, yea. But, my video shows everyone dancing how I dance. So, there's that.
You know you loved it too!
I definitely learned part of the dance of this video.
remember the group aqua??? well i have a dance mix cd i made 10+ years ago that has 3 of there songs on it: barbie girl, doctor jones, and candyman... and those 3 songs got listened to over and over again by me when no one else was around...
I may have used barbie girl as karaoke material once or twice.
As a duet only of course.
Go Blue !!!!
Subjecting my family to all of the cheese embedded in this board as we eat our saturday cinnamon rolls. Did u want cheese with that roll?
Anything Taylor Swift, "All the Single Ladies", Party in the USA, Anything Lady Gaga, "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", there are others but I should probably stop now.
They have good writing, excellent production and are catchy so they stick in your head. The problem with a lot of pop songs is they are just more of the same, lack creativity and sometimes can be almost a blatant rip off. I.e.
the thing is the person who "wrote" the music for the song. They could of changed the tempo and a few other things. Then marketing it to the other singers as new material. Artist's these days are under so much pressure to put out new material. That they sometimes do no catch it. This happened to a Beyonce song last year or so.
You are correct though, creatvity has gone by the wayside.
noone mentioned this yet? Still remember the first time I saw Mike Myers dance to this in Austin Powers...might have been the hardest I have ever laughed in my life...
But I'm not sure their version can match the original of this version-
The weirdest backdrop to the song...
A very drunk 16 year old steals the microphone from the house band at a joint called Mango Tango's. Cue to me..err..him in his Tommy Hilfiger boxers and nothing else singing this song...
Blasting out of a rental car in LA out at the Rose Bowl. Tell me after 4 years of Michigan not being Michigan it didn't connect..."When we're winning, I'll be singing..I get knocked down, but I get up again, you're never going to keep me down..." And it's a song about drinking. Classic.
This is still the soundtrack to me and my roommates' "get a shopping cart or two, it's goin' down" beer/liquor runs
According to my daughter, most of what I listen to falls into this category, but this one takes the cake.
Every time I get RickRolled I have to watch the whole thing. I turn it up when it's on the radio. Then I don't sleep for a week because it's stuck in my head.
No question, this is one of the best cheesy songs ever, on the soundtrack of one of the best cheesy movies ever. Can you name that movie?
I'll even go further and give you my two favorite qoutes from said movie:
"Catches bullets with his teeth?! N*gga please!!
"You just get that sucker to the designated place at the designated time, and I will gladly designate his ass... for dismemberment!"
That is also one of my favorite cheesy movies of all time, and also the song "Treat Her Like A Lady" by the Temptations is on that soundtrack and that song is the shiznit!
What is The Last Dragon, Alex
If you're going to do Survivor athletic anthems, you need Queen.
Though that may not be as cheesy as Another Bites the Dust. (Or We Will Rock You.) Or definitely Bohemian Rhapsody. But the true great cheese-
So it turns out, Livin' La Vida Loca is a really, really great treadmill song. So Ricky Martin occupies a spot on my iPod.
My bother-in-law is Ricky Martin's guitarist so I have to stick up for him
Freudian slip? ;)
I like Africa by Toto.
Broken Wings by Mr. Mister might be even cheesier though.
Africa by Straight No Chaser fwiw, for me
I remember when they would come to U-M for the regional competitions...really the only group I ever saw that was better than Michigan's finest. They absolutely brought the house down when they did Aaliyah's "Are you That Somebody". Wasn't surprised at all to see them branch off and go pro.
But it can't beat the original-
Are you me? I was going to post these exact songs.
QVIST's avatar reminded me that perhaps the cheesiest songs I know are from the Space Ghost Musical Barbecue. Most people wouldn't give it 5 minutes before turning it off yet it's a cult classic with my family.
One time, I hired a monkey to take notes for me in class........
My favorites are "I Love Beans" and "Don't Touch Me"
Hell yeah. I love Africa. I love this even more:
...but I don't consider "Africa" a cheesy song, even if it was recorded by the same group responsible for "Rosanna"
"Rude Boy" by Rihanna. I cannot get enough of that song, and I have no idea why.
King of Wishful Thinking - Go West
Couldn't embed....but please take a look at the 80s jeans in this video. A little taste...
80's Music = Rad. Don't forget 99 Red Balloons!!
I am so, so glad I watched that.
Yes! When I read the title "Go West" I first thought Pet Shop boys.
Yellowcard. All of it.
Since I'm an 80's kid and still love the music from that era, there are plenty that would make my list. "Don't Talk To Strangers" by Rick Springfield, anything by Hall and Oates, and "The Look Of Love" by ABC. From this era, "Love Game" from Gaga is just so hyptnotic to me.
I can listen to the majority of her songs all day. It's horrible. the "Alejandro" one though, reminds me of Madonna (obviously.) Probably La Isla Bonita... which I absolutely love.
Hahaha, I remember wearing out my cassette copy of Roxette's Joy Ride when I was younger. I hadn't thought about them in years.
"Moonlight feels right" by Starbuck ! .... Great cheesy song !
And one of my favorite cheesy songs/scenes from the show.
Dude, this isn't cheesy. It's a great cover by the late Jeff Buckley. Come on now. If that's cheesy, what's not cheesy? Beethoven's 5th?
Though in my book, these guys are actually still cool because they were on the New Jack City soundtrack AND did a guest spot on 90210. You don't get more badass than that.
And if you are trying to romance the ladies, there is really no better choice than this one.
My other guilty pleasure being Shakira's Ojos Asi, but if you dare call Shakira cheesy I will track you down. And if you listen to Shakira en ingles, es una lastima. Too spicy to allow embedding:
And slightly cheesy? Royal Guardsmen's Airplane Song:
I cannot figure out how to embed youtube videos. I guess I rode the short buss today.
best that way
I don't know if this has already been posted, but this is also awesome:
Thanks! What's the right way to embed YouTube videos on MGoBlog?
Also, I like your signature--great song!
and when the comment/reply box comes up, hit the "source" button. It will light up bluish, paste the code in the comment box. Then hit the "source" button again and you should see a flash logo. then just hit save.
yeah, tyga is my favorite in the Young Money camp, and he killed that song
I was listening to the "We Are Young Money" album in the car tonight and just noticed this line in the song "New Shit": "Young Money wolverines, [bit*h no Michigan]!
Toots & The Maytals covered it, and it's awesome. Instead of "West Virginia," he sings "West Jamaica."
The song itself probably isn't cheesy enough, but my non-stop shit-faced rendition of it while tailgating at the 2007 Rose Bowl deserves strong consideration. Sadly there is no video of my performance, but from the looks on the faces of the various lovely latinas who passed by our car, it was the ultimate in cheesy-song awesomeness.
My cheesy song is "Breakfast at Tiffany's" by Deep Blue Something. I will turn in my man card first thing Monday morning.
Quiet Riot - Cum On Feel The Noize
Twisted Sister - We're Not Gonna Take It
Ratt - Round and Round
I shit you not, I did a fist pump when I read the first two you posted. Fuck yes, Quiet Riot and Twisted Sister. "We're not gonna take it" was my favorite song when I was about 5 when it came out. I can remember my sister and I getting a quarter, putting it on a jukebox at a bowling alley, and proceeding to run around and climb on tables and booths, dancing to the song and screaming that we were not, in fact, going to take it anymore. This may have pissed off some employees.
My dad was bowling at the time. Solid parenting, that.
nobody actually likes Ace of Base
Pretty much anything by the Spice Girls.
"Peek-a-Boo" might have been more embarrassing
And couldn't let the thread die...
