OT: What Would You Do???

Submitted by WhatTheFekete on

We live about an hour outside of Chicago.

So what would you do...we are out at a local festival, waiting for the live music to start.  My wife who had had a really shitty day, asked me if I would go and get her a funnel cake.  Sure I replied (trying to be a good husband!)  So I go and get in the line for funnel cakes, which is way too long but again my wife had a shitty day and I figured I would do something nice for her.  I finally get up to the front to the realization that everyone at this stand are wearing Ohio State hats, shirts, etc...

So what would you say or do?

After I took my funnel cake, I took a few good shots, which they simply ignored.

I walked into a restaurant a month or two back that I really life for lunch.  I was all set to order until the man behind the counter walked up with a plain gray Michigan shirt with a red X through the letters.  An O like drawing was below.

So I walked out.  Haven't eaten there since.  No reason to say a thing.

Were there any other locations that sold funnel cake?  I think you and I were in vastly different situations, but my general approach is to not give them business.  In this case, you did wait in a line forever, but I just have a hard time seeing any money go towards an OSU fan.

I saw a Buckeye was on television during the "Catch a Predator" marathon. They always had booze, condoms and OSU hat or shirt on. All the materials you need for good conversation.

Sorry, had to do that, because I found it so funny when you justified your opinion with that reference on the other thread. But that aside, I kind of agree with you on this one- I see no reason why anyone should say anything at all to Buckeye fans, positive or negative. While college football and our team is the number one hobby/interest I have, it actually is just a game, and I don't hate people in Columbus or anywhere.

minding their own business, chose to ignore the crap you threw out at them (with no provocation) AND were classy enough to not point out that your team has been f'ing OWNED the last 6 years, giving you zero ammunition to talk smack.....And we are supposed to sympathise with you ?

I wish there was some way to make idiots like you stand out from the overwhelming percentage of decent Michigan fans. It is unfair that morons like you wear the same gear that the good fans wear.

Try to get this into your head. There are good, honest, hard-working people that support OSU. Unless they provoke you there is no excuse for you to behave like a dick. I hope this message goes through to you and that other idiot who posted a couple weeks ago bragging that he insulted a paying customer just because he was from Ohio.

A huge bull stood grazing in the field. A tiny gnat buzzed about its ear and finally landed on one of his huge horns. After a while, the little gnat said loudly, "Dear bull, pardon me if I have disturbed your peaceful afternoon with the weight of my body on your horns. I offer you one thousand apologies for I never meant to inconvenience you with my presence at all . . . I wouldn't want you to think I didn't care about your solitude and comfort."

The bull replied, "Little gnat, thank you for the grandiose apology you felt such great need to share. But you think too highly of yourself. I didn't even notice you were there!

The fact that they ignored you indicates you probably weren't dealing with average Buckeye fans. You really shouldn't talk any non-gameday crap to people without being provoked, especially in a case like this where you get the rare chance to meet civilized Buckeye fans. The only thing that may have been apporpriate in this case would be to give a tip of a Michigan hat (if you were wearing one) after recieving your food or a clearly good-natured "Go Blue". Taking any real shots is just being a jerk to people who are probably already disliking their job.

If they had started something with you, by rules of engagement, that's an open invitation to fire at will. Otherwise, its mutual respect and in certain situations may even be time to talk some football with people coming from a different angle. I'm actually thankful to know some Buckeyes and Spartants I can talk sports with and get some inside opinions, info, and angles.

I did not talk SMACK!

I am getting bashed on here for something neither said nor done.

I guess that when I meant I took a few good shots that I just said we will see how the team is this year, etc...  Not that I was talking shit.

...you asked what we would say or do.  I said I wouldn't talk smack to them until I got my food (and made a lame joke about it).  I never said YOU talked smack.

That said, when you said you took some shots at them, I think most people took that as you were confrontational.

Moral to the e-story: Be careful what you type on the interwebz OR if you don't care about being careful when typing on the interwebz, don't take offense when others misunderstand you.
