OT: This is What Happens When You Have A Mascot

Submitted by drboud on

So I am generally against the idea of having a mascot, although I do understand how it makes us more likeable to a younger audience. Anyway need another reason to be glad that we don't?

I give you from the University of Minnesota:

I hate that reasoning, "Little Kids like it, and it gets them involved". Funny how teams went like 100 years with no mascots and people still being fans, but kids today need them

I know you're against them OP, but I just wanted to say that

My 2.5 year old daughter, who loves all things music and dance, heard the video, climbed up next to me to watch and within 10 seconds said, "I no like turn off."

I know, I'm with you guys...her grammar sucks.

I had to stop watching when I saw the pasty bald white guy sitting at his desk wiggling like he's trying to itch his hemorrhoids without using his hands.

Just because there's a really bad video out there with a masot (and others encouraged by said mascot) doing something really embarrasingly stupid, there are also videos of mascots doing something absolutely amazing.  Case in point:

Disclaimer:  This is by no means an endorsement of U of M getting a mascot, which I vehemently oppose.

The end of that video rather gave me a new appreciation fo Carl Spackler's raison d'etre.

It is even more clear that this is something which almost never ends well, because one day, your mascot gets drunk and aggressive and then...well...

Not sure if you are aware of what is the coolest mascot in my opinion.

The Fighting Okra of Delta State (in Mississippi no less) is both silly and makes fun in some way of Notre Dame. It is a win/win.
