OT - What is going to happen in the Breaking Bad finale?
It's been a long week on ye ol' board, and I figure we could use a distraction. I ask the mods to grandfather this topic in from OT season to our current non-OT season. I think Brian's numerous Walter White references allow for that. This is like a post about The Smiths.
So, what do you think will happen? Will Walt live? Will he manage to get his money back and somehow get it to his family? Will Jesse live? What about Skyler, Marie, Junior, Lydia, and Todd & the Nazis*?
My prediction: Walt dies but gets a least some money to his family. Vince Gilligan said that he thinks the ending isn't too bad for Walt, though people might think he's crazy for saying that once they've seen the final episodes.
I can't imagine Jesse - poor Jesse - making it out of all of this alive. I'd love to see him live, get some of Walt's money, and adopt Brock, but that's the sort of fairytale ending that looks like it is not at all in the cards.
I think Skyler, Junior, and Holly all survive. Their deaths would be cruel even by Breaking Bad standards.
I think Todd, Jack, and the rest of their gang of sociopaths all die. I think Lydia will get away, though, as a nod to the fact that high-level criminals in suits tend to skate while street-level criminals do not.
I think we haven't seen the last of Marie.
I think Badger will write his Star Trek screenplay on a burrito wrapper and lose it when it is shredded by a Roomba.
*Todd & the Nazis were a well-reviewed, if controversial, proto-punk band in the '70s.

That's the best case scenario. I hope you aren't expecting BB to give you the best case scenario. To put it in a metaphor, UTL is off the table. Your choices are App State, Toledo, or Akron. Your pick.

Walt takes the machine gun and goes after the nazis. Walt dies, Nazis die, Lydia dies, Jesse dies. Todd LIVES!
Imagine Todd surveying the carnage - walt, jesse, etc... all shot to hell. Expressionless Todd looks around, picks up a bag of money and walks away. Roll credits.
All of the innocents are presumed to have lived (Skylar, etc...).

I'm not looking at the rest of the posts because I haven't seen any of the last 7 episodes yet, but I can say without a doubt: Zombie Apocalypse.

Walt wakes up in bed next to Suzanne Pleshette and realizes it's all just been a dream.

Good. So now everyone can start talking about something else.

Great input. Appreciate your contribution.

Yeah because there are so many better things to talk about than the greatest TV show of all time... Great input.

I have this weird inclination that something really messed up is going to happen between Todd & Lydia. The scene with them in the coffee shop struck me as really creepy.
September 26th, 2013 at 1:20 PM ^
eh, pretty much every scene with todd in it is really creepy
September 26th, 2013 at 4:25 PM ^
Oh, come on. Haven't you watched Friday Night Lights? Todd's a gentleman and a sweetheart. Always has, always will be.

I would like to see their storyline expand, but unfortunately there is just a 75 minute episode left in the entire series that I don't think there will be much air time involving their relationship other than Walt (most likely) trying to take them down.

I like the one suggestion I heard. Walt enters the witness protection program and ends up being Hal from Malcom in the Middle.

I bet Walt Jr is pissed off and eats breakfast at some point in the episode.

Ideally this involves Walt starting to run his usual line of BS about not intending for this to happen and then Jesse calling him a bitch and shooting him in the gut so he can die slowly. As you can tell I am not on team Walt.

Walt gets banhammered. Jesse starts a somewhat confusing revolutionary thread in response.

No matter what else happens wrt who kills whom and how, the final shot of the series will be some time later once the family's out of (protective) custody, where Junior's at a party and someone offers him blue meth... and he takes it.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:48 PM ^
What makes you think finding out your dad was a meth kingpin who murdered your uncle and many others would lead to substance abuse down the line? I suppose witnessing the knife fight between your parents that ended with your father kidnapping your baby sister would be a little traumatic but you can always overcome adversity. I’d say Walt Jr. has at least a 2% chance of becoming a successful well adjusted adult in the future. Sure the family is destitute but pancakes are cheap.

Walt wakes up. It was all a crazy dream, and he never even had cancer. It makes him remember his former student Jesse and want to help him. They invite him over, Hank explains the dangers of being a pothead, Jesse understands and agrees, and they all go out for some delicious Los Pollos Hermanos. They adopt a cat, and name it Heisenberg.
September 26th, 2013 at 4:38 PM ^
Marie will end up killing Walt. His new name is "mr lambert" and Lambert is also Maries maiden name. Little bit of foreshadowing there and Marie has the motive to kill him believing Walk killed Hank

M60 is for the Nazis. The ricin is for Lydia's tea she is always drinking. Jesse lives and adopts Brock. They all somehow manage to get a share of the money when Walt dies because Walt is smarter than Mike and will figure out a way to get the money past the FBI monitoring the family.
September 26th, 2013 at 5:10 PM ^
Agree with Walt killing the Nazi's - not entirely sure what will happen between Jesse/Walt.
What I think would be cool is if somehow we see a clip of Kaylee Ehrmantraut (Mike's granddaughter) getting some of the money. She hasn't been discussed and is the epitome of innocence on the show.

I think I've got it: The last episode's title is 'Felina.' This rhymes with 'Melina', the character from Total Recall. The actress who played Melina is Rachel Ticotin. Rearrange the letters of her name and get: 'Ricin Cat Hotel.' So...yeah, it's pretty obvious what's going to happen. Sorry Vince Gilligan, but it was almost too easy...

I think it ends with Saul running a Cinnabon and hitting on the customers.

I expect not all the current "bad guys" (Todd, Nazis, Lydia) will die.
I think the machine gun is for Walt killing the Nazis and getting his money. I doubt it, but I'd love for him to use that money to buy Grey Matter controlling stocks, although he would only have about $80 million which is not enough for a controlling share.
I think the ricin is likely for the Lydia's tea just because of the emphasis they have put on her tea and sweetner. However, I could see it being for Grey Matter as well - would enjoy seeing that unfold.
Saul recommended Walt turn himself in. If he doesn't die, I wouldn't be too surprised to see him turn himself in, take the ricin so that he doesn't have to go through the system, etc. He would die, and they would assume it was his cancer. Skylar would then be off the hook and it would be easier for him to get money to his family. I think this is possible - though no one has suggested it. Am I crazy?
Jesse? Would love chemistry explosion to be involved, but rather I think Walt lets him go. But not before taking the ricin in front of him, explaining his plan, giving 1/2 the money to Jesse, but just asking Jesse not to kill him before he can turn himself in. Mabye in a controlling manner involving a slow-acidic chemistry-solution that would eat through his chains but not before Walt could exit and get on with his plan.
Yes, I realize I hypothesized that the ricin was for Lydia, Grey Matter, and Walt. It's TV, anything is possible.

I don't know what'll happen, but I'm still holding out hope that the only two left alive in the end are Walt Jr. and Holly. After stumbling upon his father's recipe for meth (I have no idea how, just go with it) and realizing that he needs to take care of his little sister, Walt Jr. then starts cooking meth to support their small family, only to become the biggest drug lord in the southwest.

I like the idea of Todd being the only survivor. Only bad people win these things in real life.

I don't know what's going to happen... I try not to think about it too much and just enjoy the ride.
All I know, is I want Walt to get his comeuppance. I don't know if that's going to happen aside from the inevitable cancer. I guess there's the argument that he's already lost his family and, thus, lost what he cared about. Meaning the finale isn't about Walter White, but rather Heisenberg. I dunno, I'm talking in circles. I just want anybody who is still cheering for Walt to be soul-dong kicked so hard.
