OT What is Fedorov talking about?

Submitted by Sambojangles on
Sergei Fedorov is saying something to some Russian newspaper about his time with the Wings. He says the other players were jealous of the Russian Five, and the coaches wouldn't let the Russian players do all they could. I don't know why or how he would say this, but I guess it's good that it didn't come up when he was actually on the team. http://www.freep.com/article/20091119/SPORTS05/911190461/?imw=Y&templat… (Note: freep link, but no-followed)

You shouldn't believe every "interview" you read in the Russian press, unless you want to hear about how Ovechkin told them he was singing with CSKA Moscow in 3 years.

has always been kind of "off" about stuff like this. first he holds the wings hostage in 97, gets his money and then wins another cup the next year and every one loves him. then he dicides to leave because he wanted to be the main guy, which never really worked out for him. then to make it even worse his dad would get involved with some of the issues, like sergei playing defence.... if any thing sergei created his own problems while he was here not the other way around.

He donated his entire base salary to charity in 1999, hence why everyone forgave him. And he did not leave to be the main guy, he signed with the Kariya era Ducks for God's sake. He wanted to spend the twilight of his career on the beach and can you really blame him?

sign with the ducks thinking he would be playing with PK then so be it. but he still took less money to leave detroit, which makes a lot of people including me thnk that he left to get out of the shadow of yzerman. which makes it seem like he wanted to be the main guy.
