OT: What are your NFL playoff predictions?

Submitted by CoachBP6 on
What do you guys think about the 2014 nfl playoffs? Which is the best wildcard matchup? What is your super bowl prediction and why?

I think 2014 playoffs are the first year in awhile where all but 2 teams (Arizona, Carolina) can realistically win the Super Bowl. Most of the playoff spots / seeds were not set til the final whistle of the final game.

Hottest teams going into playoffs are Seattle, Dallas, Carolina, and Pittsburgh.

Best wildcard matchup or me is Detroit at Dallas. #1 rush offense vs #1 rush defense is a matchup I can't wait to see. Dallas is very balanced offensively. Detroit is very balanced defensively with a DL that is dominant. If Matt stafford and the offense can play up to their capability I think they can score a lot against a suspect Dallas defense.

My super bowl prediction is a rematch of teams that have met before in the big game: Seattle vs Pittsburgh. I feel like they are the two hottest, most well balanced teams. If Pitt can get by Baltimore without bell I think they can beat anyone in afc when playing best game. I think new England will have a rough offensive output at some point which will cost them another trip to the super bowl.

Ultimately I think Seattle wins back to back. I feel like if they don't beat themselves, no one else will. They are so hard to beat when playing the defense they have been playing. Could also see patriots vs packers, Denver vs packers, and patriots vs Seattle.

Good luck to everyone with their teams in the dance!!!

They will get curb stomped by Dallas on Sunday. The defense is good but is overrated due to the weak offenses on their schedule. The offense is a flat-out embarrassment. The Lions are a total mirage and are probably the least likely team to win a playoff game given the matchups.

NE over IND, PIT over DEN, PIT over NE

SEA over DET, GB over CAR, SEA over GB

SEA over PIT in the Super Bowl.

I'm predicting hot teams stay hot, water stays wet, and that DAL and CIN fall flat on their face in the playoffs again.

Do people really think Stafford is going to Dallas and winning? What is your basis for that? He has never beaten a playoff team on the road, and nothing about his play says that should change. Could it happen...Yes, but little pertinent data points to a win here.

Sea over Dallas, GB over Carolina, Sea over GB

NE over IND, Pit over Den, NE over Pit

Brayd wins another Superbowl, capping the most successful dynasty ever in the NFL.

I'll predict the Patriots winning the Super Bowl like a brash Boston fan, but there are some serious road blocks:

Denver - I don't think Denver is that much of a threat. I'm not sure Peyton Manning can keep up with Brady this time. However, the Broncos are too talented a team to count off.

Pittsburgh - This is the scariest team in the AFC for me. They're playing well. They're a physical team and while the Patriots are not a soft team, Pittsburgh is one of the toughest teams to play. This is an opponent that the Patriots could struggle with. I hate the Steelers.

Green Bay - Aaron Rodgers is basically the perfect quarterback in this day and age. Sorry, Lions fans. I said it. His accuracy was lethal in the first game and the game plan to target the non-Revis/Browner DB was genius. It would be interesting to see how Belichick makes changes to prevent this from being a problem in a potential rematch. Rodgers ability to get out of the pocket and avoid pressure was also a problem that was less talked about. Furthermore, I thought Josh McDaniels had a horrible game (sidenote: his awful playcalling is why I won't miss him if he gets a head coaching job). Green Bay doesn't have a good run defense and the Patriots went away from it way too fast. I think that hurt the defense too because all of the three and outs kept Belichick from making adjustments. Oh, and no home cooking this time. The officiating, especially early on, was pretty freaking terrible at Lambeau.

Seattle - Seattle poses the most match up problems. Quarterback that is mobile, power running game, awesome defense. This is a game where a guy like Tim Wright would have to have a huge impact. I personally think Seattle will be the toughest out in the playoffs. They're just playing some crazy good ball right now.

I'd love for a Dallas-New England Super Bowl, just to see everyone unhappy though. Full disclosure, I like this Dallas team. They're likable beyond their terrible owner. I'm not even joking.

I think the Lions will play very well this weekend.  Just saw on ESPN how the team has rallied around Suh and taken a real "us against the world' mentality.  ESPN was saying how this team was really going to show mental fortitude and mental toughness, something that is necessary when going against Dallas.

It's a shame this team constantly has to deal with haters in the League office who have unfairly targetted the team for years, especially Suh.  Just look at all of the BS fines.  Does any other team have to deal with these types of distractions?  Guess Goodell only wants to see large market teams (Dallas) succeed and will do anything to impair the Lions.

Apparently stepping backwards onto one of Goodell's Nancy-Boy Quarterbacks is more egregious than pummeling women and children (except, of course, when video is released and advertisers get upset).

I'll give this round a go anyway and then sit on the rest because I like to do it round-by-round for the NFL for some reason (probably because a great majority of NFL games are decided by a score or less, although the playoff seem to mock that trend sometimes):

Arizona / Carolina - Arizona easy.

Pittsburgh / Baltimore - tougher call. I'll go Steelers.

Cincinnati / Indianapolis - I think the Colts take this one.

Detroit / Dallas - Suh gives them a puncher's chance on defense, but advantage Dallas.

since Suh will not be suspended. Staford usually plays well in Texas! Staford will have to have a big day if the Lions even stand a chance of winning against Dallas!

#### wild round

Detroit vs Dallas= Dallas

Cardinal vs Panthers= Panthers

Ravens vs Steelers = Steelers

Bengal vs Colts = Colts

#### Divisional round

Seahawks vs Panthers = Seahawks

Packers vs Cowboys= Cowboys

Ravens vs Patriots= Patriots

Colts vs Broncos= Broncos

####Conference championship

Seahawks vs Cowboys= Seahawks

Patriots vs Broncos= Patriots.

####Superbowl

Seahawks vs Patriots= Patriots

I would not be surprised if the Cowboys knock off the Seahawks!

AFC wild card games are awful this year. I'll go Steelers and Bengals both teams will struggle tho. Cardinals will struggle but win and as much as I hate Dallas I think they kick the shit out of the lions. I hate saying that about Dallas against any team :(

Ugh. Damn you, Stafford. In my opinion the Lions have easily the worst QB of any team that made the playoffs, with the exception of the Cardinals, and obviously that's only because third-stringer.
