OT: What Album Do You Listen To All The Way Through?

Submitted by ILL_Legel on

Mid afternoon in Shanghai drinking and listening to music.  Looking for feedback from the Board on albums (I say that in a generic sense in today's digital world) you put on and listen to all the way through.

Most of mine are old school since, one, I'm old (not like Herm old though), and, two, I just download one off songs these days.

Please enlighten me on what albums you play and listen to from start to finish so I can download some more music.

A few off the top of my head that I listen to from start to finsih.

Paul's Boutique - Beastie Boys

Kid A - Radiohead

It's Dark and Hell is Hot - DMX

Gentlemen - Afghan Whigs

The Roots Come Alive - The Roots

Room On Fire - The Strokes

Bossanova - The Pixies

The Suburbs - Arcade Fire

Disintegration - The Cure

Nevermind - Nirvana

Life After Death - Notorious BIG

Murmur - REM

Pleased To Meet Me - The Replacements

Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes

Pretty Much Any Grateful Dead Live

That's enough....yes, I listen to The Beatles and The Smiths too...

EDIT:  As expected you all came through!  I spent way too many hours checking out a lot of different music today and dowloading quite a bit.  Now it is sleep time in Shanghai.  Thanks!

No kidding, pretty much each post has an album (or many) that I would type. The only one I missed that I would add (could be here and Im just blind) is WU LYF "Go Tell Fire to the Mountain". Other than that, about all 100 others have been listed.

A lot of mine have already been mentioned, so I'll just go with my absolute, all-time, top two:

U2 - War (I don't wanna say exactly that U2 went downhill after Achtung Baby, but almost all my favorite U2 songs are from AB or before.  War is awesome.  The album, snarkheads.)

Better Than Ezra - Deluxe (the entire music industry can put its collective heads together and not in a thousand years will they write a better album for listening to on a warm, sunny Friday afternoon in spring.)

That is some hardcore devotion right there.  I can't claim to have sacrificed any body part in the name of BTE.  You might've at least picked a better song than Cry in the Sun, it's the least good song on the album :P  (No such thing as a "bad song" or a "worst song" on a favorite album, though.)  Friction, Baby is alllmost as good as Deluxe.....but not quite there.

I have a friend with whom I've had quite a series of debates about that, by the way, over the course of oh basically our entire high school and college lives.  He has always placed way more importance on the lyrics of a song than I have.

I've said it before and I'l say it again. We're an incredibly diverse bunch and we have only one thing totally in common our Love for the Wolverines !!!!!

Guns N' Roses- Appetite, really anything but the New thing Axl put out.

Black N' Blue-all their stuff

Really most of the 80's Metal/hair bands, that was my generation. I'm 45 and a father of 3 girls. Get ready to Gasp... I'm also happily going to see Pop Evil tomorrow in Johnson City, Tn. I'm also going to implore them to sing "In The Big House" here in the heart of SEC country. Nothing like a slap at all these Vols/SEC fans for me.
