Only about 30 people showed up but we ran up a 2k tab just ordering drinks and apps in an hour and a half. So it's not too unreasonable. I bet that drinks were at least half that

that did 5 years in the service industry:
15% is a poor tip for a poor server. You tip below this and you're generally an asshole.
17-18% is average.
20% is a good tip.
22%+ is a server that was absolutely perfect.
Never really liked the automatic 17-18% on large parties "rule".

Must be a nice problem to have.
As a first rounder, you know he can afford it. They don't do things like this to the late rounders struggling to make it.
