Hadn't the Governor's crew already left for the prison at that point? That's why Andrea was talking to the people at the wall, to see where they'd gone.

But yeah, my assumption was that the driver of the van just took off back through the gates after getting out of the truck. Why would she have stuck around?

I didn't really get the guy in the tower though. How did he get there, and were they just planning to ditch him?

Yeah, I thought it was pretty clear when she (?) ran past Michonne who was just inside the fence. I was a little confused at how they managed to get a guy on the tower though... That's just piss poor security for a veteran crew who know an attack is imminent.

I don't understand why it has become all hipster to bash on TWD. I guess it's really popular, therefore a lot of people feel they need to say how bad it is.  It's no different than it ever has been however. It was never a bastion of award-winning actors. It is what it is.

Furthermore, I think last night addressed a lot of what people like to whine about. There was a "call to common sense" in some respects: we got to see why Rick is still the leader - he admitted his problems and addressed them with Herschel. There was decent character development with Glen and Maggie. The storyline isn't being drug out - I didn't expect an attack on the prison to happen so quickly.

So, yeah, I don't get the hipster reaction to TWD.  It's not Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones or even Dexter.  It's a much more low-brow show than any of those. But it always has been - now it is just insanely more popular.

I'm not sure I can be considered "hipster" based solely on the fact that my legs are too big to fit into skinny jeans... anyhow I just think it is too far removed from the original graphic novel. It is disappointing  that they didn't keep honest to the characters and are playing to the "dramatic/ love story" aspect that makes shows popular and actually makes it low brow as you mentioned. I just wish it was kept like it should be. The baby/the Lori garbage/ the Glen and Maggie bullshit. Fuck all that. There is no time for that and it is annoying at best.

Not you in particular (I really just couldn't help posting the Dude given your user name). It's more the fact that TWD is the highest rated show on cable right now and the highest rated show ON TV in the 18-45 demo and if you read any recap of the show, all you'll get is condescending laments on how awful the show is. That's where I see the hipster culture coming through. The "This used to be cool, but now it's popular" ideology.

I'm coming at it never having read the comics and now that I know you have read the comics, I can understand your view better.

It's more interesting, even, that many of the critics whine that there is not enough dramatic character development.

I'm just enjoying the ride and will save my critical opinions for other things.

Other than the baby turn, how is Lori haunting Rick and Glen and Maggie having a rough time  with it all and relationship drama different from the comic?

I admit it's a lot less dark than the comic, and they might be to a point where they can't really get back to the comic storyline, and just interpet set pieces from it, but I don't see it as THAT different thematically.
