OT: Voting Statistics and general amusement

Submitted by Seth9 on
Amusingly, the introduction of voting statistics has introduced a new phenomena. Instead of having someone go through 10-15 of my posts at a time and neg them over the course of three minutes, someone went through a page of my posts and posbanged them. The introduction of voting statistics is leading past transgressors to atone for their sins. I would make a political comment here, but it would be in poor taste and out of place.

Still not entirely sure what it all means. I get that "Voting Statistics" tells me how many times I've voted and what the sum of those votes is, but I have no idea how to find myself on the list... I want to know if I'm a negative nancy or not! Also, I find it interesting that some of my perceptions of people were way off. I would not have guessed Magnus would have a positive sum because he does a lot of good work keeping people in line. Any other surprises in there people have noticed? EDIT: Found myself. Evidently I'm a dick.

I'll admit I'm a little confused after looking at my voting statistics/tracking... I clicked on a couple of random threads that say I negged someone and I actually gave people up votes. Really the more that I think about it the only person I really neg is King of Belch, but in all fairness he's usually asking for it.

Maybe the rating system needs to add some Rapidshare-style limitations. "You must wait 500 seconds before you are able to neg again".

1178 Total, +778. I need to be more of an asshole. Also, I looked through every single page to try and find me (there are 49 pages) and I just now realized I was on the first page of +/-

Sometimes I feel like I'm excessively negative, so I was surprised that I'm healthily in the positive overall. Also, not that I care, but didn't Chitown talk a few times about how it would take extraordinary circumstances to neg someone? I noticed he has a negative total.

When I look at my voting history, it has my most recent vote as nearly a week ago, which isn't correct, and then quickly goes back to 4 weeks ago. I'm a bit confused.

I didn't realize the new tab under "My Account" titled "Your Votes." When I clicked on that tab, I too only had a small portion of the points I have given out (with the last over 3 weeks ago). I only have 2 pages worth of votes, where it should be, I don't know, 10 times that. After looking at a number of these threads, they all had one thing in common - I had up or down voted the OP post. So I can only deduce that, when you look at "Your Votes" its the your votes you've made on original postings like a diary or a board post, only.

I'm pretty pleased that this info is out there for us now. I had mentioned that there were more thank likely some users teetering at the 20 point or so mark, providing very little content who were abusing the -1 power (see FrankR05).
