Recruiting isn't the reason I agree with Michael and Samir.

This should really help their recruiting!

And maybe in the same breath they will roll out the Cris Carter NFL instructional video about getting a "Fall Guy".

When the NFL fines players...they don't dock their salaries, I don't believe. When they SUSPEND players they do.
But if you get fined, for say a late hit...you just pay it like a ticket, right?
The cost of attendance is contractually agreed upon I believe. Wouldn't this be like taking scholarship money or taking away per diem on road trips?
Not sure you can do that, Bud.
He probably thought of this when he was putting back that 24 pack of Natty Light last night with his huge chaw in. (I'm not stereotyping because it's SW Virginia, I've met the man 3-4 times, he's as country as they make'em...one hell of a coach though. You want to meet him? Just go out the night after a big Tech win...he'll be at the bar, guaranteed. And you thought Sark was the only one...)

Then the coaches should be fined for every NCAA violation (major or minor).
This idea is really really dumb.

JUST IN: NCAA exploring fining coaches from end-of-year bonus money for every dumb proposal they make

I would tend to agree with this tweet....
I thought nobody was going to say anything dumber than Curt Schilling this week and then oh hey there Bud Foster.

Michigan Man Scott Loeffler is the OC there, maybe he will talk some sense into them. I hope it wasn't his idea.

Beamer hasn't had a lot of oversight since winning his battle for control over the football program with former AD Jim Weaver in 2000. He's been fining coaches for swearing in practice(nothing major, more of a "swear jar" type fine) for the last several years, and either he thought he could apply this sort of thinking to players or somebody in the football office did. I'm reasonably certain the assistants had nothing to do with it-- Foster's getting flak for it because he was the first coach asked about it, and he clearly wasn't prepared to answer the question. VT AD Whit Babcock immediately sent out a press release indicating that he would be discussing this matter with the coaching staff as soon as possible, which I strongly suspect means these fines will never be implemented.

Let's start fining players who we make millions off of but don't pay a single cent to!
I like the idea that they're trying to promote discipline and accountability, but this has the mark of future lawsuits written all over it.

1) I'm against paying these kids
if we're not going to pay them beyond their scholly and their stipend
2) I'm really against fining them
There are other ways to discipline these kids!!

If instead they instituted a notion of "Fine Currency Debt", now that would be interesting.
Infraction A at price X could be paid by some combination of Stairs (price Y), Gassers (price Z), Etc.
Not very helpful to the team, but interesting.
