Dude is untradeable, even if tonights start was the norm rather than the rare rare exception. The only teams that could take on that contract are the Yankees, Dodgers, and Sox. The Yankees and the Sox are not taking on huge deals like this anymore and the Dodgers are set in their rotation. JV is unfortunately a Tiger for the rest of this contract.

He really did look good last start till the 5th.

I thought this series would say a lot on whether the Tigers would buy or sell at the deadline. After this start can't imagine they'd be unloading. Another starter (Samardzja?) and a reliever and we might have something.

Helps that some of the icier bats look to be dethawing, as well.

Definitely a better performance by JV. He even hit 95. Hope he can keep this up. I can't see them selling. Not with what is going on now. A few games like this and KC slip a little bit, we got a battle.

Yeah, your post had absolutely no impact on the run that scored or any part of the game for that matter. I'm just happy to see JV have solid outing, and hopefully it is a shadow of good things to come for him and the Tigers. We need a couple pitchers to get hot to get this team back into playoff contention.

Harbinger of things to come

Yes, I'm going to be that guy today... a harbinger *IS* a sign of something to come! You don't need to repeat yourself. Do you also say: ATM machine? IRA account? PIN number?

Vintage Ausmus as well. Once the first two batters reached against Rondon in the 9th, he needed to be pulled. Oh well, we can be sellers.

does not inspire confidence.

EDIT: Wrote this before the walk-off. Is this the kind of game that can put the dagger in the season? Don't really follow closely enough to know.

Also doesn't help that the Tigers could have added to the lead in the top of the ninth with men at the corners and no one out and the heart of the order hit 3 straight pop ups. This team is thoroughly mediocre and needs to sell at the deadline.

Oh well, gives him a couple of extra days to get some rest. I like the way we're playing right now. Hopefully Sano stays hot, Buxton gets healthy and contributes, and our starters and Perk keep pitching well. Would be nice to play meaningful September baseball again!

Great performance by Verlander. Shit right down the drain by Dartmouth Brad and his bullpen.

Soria had nothing from the first pitch. Is someone throwing? Nooooooo. We sit there with our dick in our hand while the bullpen gives up a fucking touchdown in the 9th.
