OT: Vernon Gholston takes a pay cut
I hope Vern has wisely invested his 21 million of guaranteed money as the stat of ~80% of all football players end up bankrupt or in financial trouble 2 years after leaving the league. But I doubt Vernon will have any trouble. Afterall, he does have that coveted OSU degree...oh wait...

He's lucky he didn't get cut. The guy sucks.
Looks like Tarzan-
Plays like Jane-
Somewhere (probably Miami) Jake Long snickers and thinks to himself "...man, what a sucker...I knew Gholston never had it in him"
...Jake is thinking, "Damn, not only will he be known as one of the most recent big busts in the NFL draft but for also getting a sack against me and ruining my streak of not giving up a sack!"
you still can't smell the internet.
The steroid tests are a little tougher to pass when you can't hit up Jim Tressel for clean urine. Another Buckeye bust. Andy Katzenmoyer will be waiting for you with a gift bag inside that velvet-roped losers club.
Isn't diligent about steroid testing. Many pro football players juice up. Not condoning, just saying. I'd say he was probably on something throughout his OSU career, but who knows.
Vern was on something. I know because I scooped out some of his urine back in 2007 after he took a leak in a public bathroom and tested it!!! :P
The definition and bulk he had in college is not something one gets by just lifting and proper diet. Having spent enough time around body builders in the gym gave me enough first hand knowledge of what is natural and what is not. Besides, many HS football players are experimenting and using. So why wouldn't Vernon in college let alone a great number of players in the college ranks? BTW, I have no problem with them using PEDS. I just want it out in the open; truth in advertising. But it goes to show you that even with PEDS, if you don't have the head for the game you won't have game. Vernon proves that.
It's probably harder to get good juice when you are no longer playing with the son of a WWE legend, too.
I believe he was on something at Ohio State and managed to not get caught. In the NFL, he has made no impact because he has stopped using them and has made no impact on the team he plays for. It is speculative, but for someone who was unblockable in college and can barely stay on a NFL team now, sounds fishy.
Jake Long....the real deal! It makes me sad to see Gholston get the only sack on him the entire year. Makes you wonder if many other Buckeye players blood dope just for the one game against Michigan to play at the highest level possible for just that one game. Tressel is a weasel and I would not put it past them. Check their inside groins for needle marks.
In the spirit of fairness, Gholston actually got a raise and fat bonus for this year by accepting a reduced base salary in 2011 and 2012.
Salary Before -> Salary After
$1,900,000(2010) -> $2,250,000 + $4,000,000 "signing" bonus
$2,000,000(2011) -> $555,000 + $2,500,000 roster bonus
$2,000,000(2012) -> $650,000
This saves the Jets ~1.5 mil in cap space next year when they cut this worthless sack of panty waste.
Next year is uncapped isn't it?
Sorry if I was a confusing. It saves them ~1.5 mil in cap space when they cut him in 2011. They could cut him in 2010 with no penalty because, like you said, it is and uncapped year.
"So far, it looks like one of the worst contracts in recent history. In two seasons, he has yet to record a sack."
I'm sure that Gholston has some performance enhancing history, but to go 2 full years in the NFL without a sack is amazing to me. You seemingly could just running into the backfield every play and at least once catch a QB unaware. Just amazing how bad he has been.
Give credit to the Jets for having the defense they had last year with this guy being a total zero. Usually those kinds of high pick busts tend to drag you down. They are giving him every chance to do something but I am skeptical he can turn it around.
