OT: Vandy Pitcher breaks knee, makes web gem
Corey Williams, a pitcher for Vandy made a spectacular play in the video below, unfortunately, he also destroyed his knee. Rumor has that he broke the platella and has some serious ligament damage.
Amazing to have the presence of mind to flip it to first for the tag play, especially given the pain he had to be feeling. Yikes.
Is about all I can say about that.
The award for Hard Man of the Day goes to that guy, Corey Williams. Broken kneecap, still makes the play. Your Hard Man of the Day.
Good luck to him.
good luck to the kid.
That's a fair trade...that sucks.
I did the same thing when I broke my knee cap getting a ball hit back at the mound. Although i was still able to finish pitching the game cause i didn't realize my knee was really broken, just sore.
DAMN! That has to hurt, but it's that 0.5s of delay before the real pain sets in that allows you to think. I remember when I broke my nose playing first. I got in great position to scoop/block an awful throw from third, but it hit the seam of grass/dirt and flew straight into my nose. I picked up the ball and threw it home to get the out at home, but as soon as I released the throw I realized blood was pouring out my nose (I also knew right then it was broken as I took it square) so I just threw my mitt down, screamed, "F**KING SH*T!" and walked to the bench.
Then, my only reaction was "OHHHHHH!"
... is his coach told him to break a leg before he went out to the mound to pitch!
I bet Chuck Norris made that baseball.
I hate metal bats - that sound always makes me cringe.
He almost got his glove down to cover his knees too... so close. That's terrible, especially since it's his plant leg.
I've broken my patella and my first reaction was 'fuck shit twat fucking hurts'...
add this to the list of reasons why metal bats in college are a bad idea
This didn't have to do with metal bats. This type of injury would happen just as easily with a wood bat.
I agree. A ball off a wood bat would be just as dangerous. This is more about the placement than the velocity.
