OT: Vancouver pulling a lil bro after the Stanley Cup finals

Submitted by zohizzle101 on

Looks like the Canucks really didn't take well to the game 7 loss yesterday..riots erupted soon after and resulted in 130-140 people getting sent to the hospital. (link)

Between 130 and 140 people were sent to hospital, including three people with stab wounds and two suffering trauma, while a number of others were treated in the courtyard of a downtown hospital for the effects of tear gas.

Most people were treated for tear gas and pepper spray effects, lacerations, facial trauma, substance abuse and head injuries, Alyssa Polinsky, spokeswoman for B.C. Ambulance, told QMI Agency Thursday morning.

There were no fatalities, but one person was in critical condition Thursday at St. Paul's Hospital in downtown Vancouver. Polinsky could not confirm if it was the same person witnesses reported seeing jump off a viaduct.

Among the random acts of disruption included flipped cop cars, vandalism throughout the town, random fires, little asian men going complete ape-shit

and grown shirtless men stealing gucci bags

You've got to hand it to that guy.  As mindless violence goes, using the actual equipment of the sport in question to commit said violence is fairly clever.  NFL rioters should take note.

I rooted hard for them last night (I despise Boston teams), but I am happy they lost now. The entire arena staying to boo the Bruins' celebration was as classless as it gets.

The fans stayed to A) congratulate their team on a great season (stood up with a minute left to start cheering), B) to see the Stanley Cup, and C) to give some congratulations to local players on the Bruins (Lucic got a loud ovation as he's a local boy from East Van). They also gave a nice ovation for Tim Thomas.

You're telling me Bruin fans wouldn't have booed Luongo had he skated with the Cup in Boston?

This game meant EVERYTHING to Vancouver. The Canucks are the one thing that unites this city where 40% of its residents are born outside Canada.

The Bruins are a distant 4th sport in Boston. I don't recall seeing 100,000 Bruin fans outside watching the game on TV.

for posting something all of us already knew all too much about... and then I scrolled down the rest of the way.

A mighty +1, and my apologies.  That picture is sheer insanity.

And let him henceforth be known as Angry Canadiasian.

It's funny when your team's fans feel compelled to apologize to the other team's city:

“These are not hockey fans,” Sarah Forrest from Vancouver also wrote to the Globe. “These are trouble makers who would have rioted whether we lost or won the game. The true fans of Vancouver are disgraced by what is going on in our city.”

Vancouver is one of the coolest cities I've ever been to.  Seriously.

This incident unfortunately paints the place and people there in a bad light, which couldn't be further from the truth.

If you haven't been there before, you'll want to go someday.
